A - Great looking brew. Pours a very dark brown to black. Poured easily with 2 fingers of head that left great lacing throughout the drink.
S - Smells more of hops than roasted malts. If I were blind folded, I would probably think it was nothing more than a standard APA.
T - Starts off with coffee and a nice roasted character. Finishes with nice hops that add a piney bitterness to the brew. It is a complex beer that should definitely tried. I'm a bit turned off by the "night and day" distinction of the starting porter flavors and IPA finish. It has a great taste that should be able to please both crowds.
M - Mildly carbonated with a light/moderate palate feel.
D - I use this category to distinguish a rating based on my opinion of a good tasting beer vs. rating the beer for it's class. This isn't a session beer for me. I would definitely have another but I wouldn't drink more than 1 in a session. It's a good complex beer with a twist thats well balanced.

A: Black with a creamy lightish brown head.
S: Lots of floral and citric hops in the nose, and maybe just a touch of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate.
T: Tons of pine and floral hops, yet not overly bitter, some citrus, some coffee and roasted malt. Hop heavy.
M: Smooth and full bodied, a bit creamy.
O: A great example of the style, and one of my favorites from Deschutes.
Serving type: on-tap
