Pour is dark - looks like coffee...black with a little cream colored head.
Wow - spicy entry...almost perfume....that aspect settled as consumed.
Presents like a full flavored stout with a wicked awesome hop backing. Reminds me somewhat of a long gone brew - Roffey's Lake Effect from Michigan. Certainly, this has more of hop flavor - but it brings through many of the same threads.
I'm having a bit of a tough time with the Cascadian Dark Ale style as there are so many different takes. It is not one style. This one borders on stout - others just an IPA with some dark malts.
The mouthfeel develops well - creamy and full, backed by a snappy hop bittering. Quite spicey and complex. Excellent craft at work here - not my favorite style, but this a well crafted beer.

A: Black with a creamy lightish brown head.
S: Lots of floral and citric hops in the nose, and maybe just a touch of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate.
T: Tons of pine and floral hops, yet not overly bitter, some citrus, some coffee and roasted malt. Hop heavy.
M: Smooth and full bodied, a bit creamy.
O: A great example of the style, and one of my favorites from Deschutes.
Serving type: on-tap
