Poured from a bomber bottle into a pub glass. Pitch black with a darker cream colored head. Decent retention and lacing.
Smells like chocolate and a pine tree with a touch of orange
Tastes very bitter upfront. Not sure if it's hop bitterness or the bitterness from the dark malt. But gives way to a nice subtle burnt caramel sweetness that's paired with piney hops. Goes down nice and smooth. So creamy.
A very nice beer for the changing of season here in AZ.

A: Black with a creamy lightish brown head.
S: Lots of floral and citric hops in the nose, and maybe just a touch of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate.
T: Tons of pine and floral hops, yet not overly bitter, some citrus, some coffee and roasted malt. Hop heavy.
M: Smooth and full bodied, a bit creamy.
O: A great example of the style, and one of my favorites from Deschutes.
Serving type: on-tap
