Poured into a La Chouffe tulip
A - deep dark brown/black, two and a half finger dark tan head and some nice lacing
S - Grapefruit, huge hop aroma, very nice toasted malt and grains, a bit of a sweet yeast note, some pine and just a nice nose
T - Very nice hop up front. Stout and dark lager like malts, chocolate, charred wood, toasted everything. Grapefruit all the way through. Has a bit of sweet on the front end and blasted away nicely by the hops and toastiness
M - Medium body, medium acidity, long finish and well balanced
D - Mellow but huge. Not you average dark lager or IPA, yet a lovely marriage. This drinks bigger than most dark lagers but on pace with great IPA's. I really like this one
Final thought - at almost 7% and only $4 something a bottle, this beer is great now and will be enjoyed as the fall begins

A: Black with a creamy lightish brown head.
S: Lots of floral and citric hops in the nose, and maybe just a touch of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate.
T: Tons of pine and floral hops, yet not overly bitter, some citrus, some coffee and roasted malt. Hop heavy.
M: Smooth and full bodied, a bit creamy.
O: A great example of the style, and one of my favorites from Deschutes.
Serving type: on-tap
