Best by 8/20/14. Probably brewed in February so around 3 months old?
A: Pours a clear amber with a very very effervescent light tan head. Very high carbonation and very bubbly as a result. Head thins out and fades away relatively quickly. Thin little specks of lacing.
S: Nice sweet juicy tropical fruit. Caramel sweetness and tangerines...maybe apricot? Even some pineapple. Pretty nice.
T: Oh yeah, more of the same. Juicy, juicy tropical fruits. Much like the aroma with the tangerine, apricot and pineapple. Get some spiciness too, an herbal spiciness. Like a moderate dankness I guess? Mild caramel malt and a light hit of bitterness in the finish. Lightly dank aftertaste with traces of tropical fruits still floating around. Mildly dry finish but not bone dry.
M: Medium bodied, lightly oily and lightly dry finish.
O: Damn, I wasn't expecting much from the reviews but this is delicious. It really captures the essence of what an APA should be. Hoppy but not a bitter bomb. Just enough hop character to give it some bold flavor but light enough to be easy drinking. There's been a big glut of "session IPAs" recently but this is exactly what I want for a sessionable beer. 5.9%, borderline IPA but so much easier drinking. Really nice APA, well done Deschutes.

This pours a cardboard-straw color with tight bubbles.
There’s a light aroma on it, very muted from the tap. (Does nitro have this effect on beers? I’ve noticed it before.)
The flavor is creamy and smooth, with a mellowish hop profile. Nitro makes for an interesting drinking experience to be sure.

Best by 6/24/14.
Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and candied citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus fruit and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice citrus forward hop presence that still tastes fairly fresh almost a month after the best by date.
