Poured from the bottle a clear and bright gold with two fingers of off-white head. Wet lacing left behind.

Aroma was rather subtle with floral notes and sweet caramel malts.

The taste had a light hoppy floral and citrus notes a sweet caramel malty finish.

Light-to-medium bodied and sticky with a moderate carbonation.

An easy drinking Pale ale from Deschutes.

A pint at Beer Revolution Edmonton.

This beer appears a slightly hazy, medium golden amber hue, with one finger of loosely foamy beige head, which leaves some nice Swiss cheese lace around the glass as things slip away.

It smells of light biscuity caramel malt, punchy orange and grapefruit pith, a bit of bakery-fresh sweet pastry notes, and further leafy, perfumed hops. The taste is semi-sweet caramel/toffee malt, spunky orange, kiwi, and white grapefruit, a hint of metallic alcohol, and a stabilizing earthy, leafy hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly laid-back, just a prick and a nick here and there, the body a wavering at times, but generally steady medium weight, and more or less smooth. It finishes off-dry, the lingering fruitiness sort of overbearing in its astringency.

A tasty enough APA, although the edginess kind of takes this in an uncertain direction - one away from the normal yin/yang of sweet caramel malt and bitter citrus/pine hops. Hmmm...a Deschutes brew that underperforms? Shocking.

Appearance - Pours clear and rust orange in color with a finger's worth of white head. Good retention. Leaves a fine layer of microbubbles that covers the surface, and a nice, sticky sheet of lacing around the glass.

Smell - Moderate aroma, consisting of bread and fair caramel malt, while moderate notes of citrus come through nicely.

Taste - Follows the nose. Big and bready with lesser caramel, backed by a solid citrus undertone. Finishes much the same, with light bread and citrus zest lingering in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body. Moderate carbonation. Goes down smooth and easy.

Overall - Had this on tap for the first time about 14 months ago. Drinks fairly similar to their Red Chair, minus the brilliant mouthfeel and depth of the latter. Good, but not a unique release, nor is it on the level of it's NWPA counterpart. In fact if they were biological twins, Red Chair would be Alanis Morissette, and Armory would be Wade. (Who's Wade you ask? That's what I said!)

Pours an effervescent amber with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Good head retention & very good lacing

S: Breadyness & citrus, some floral hops as well.

T: Pineyness, orange peel & breadyness & a little bit of sulphur up front, a little bit of pear & white grape as well. A little bit of lime, bready sweetness & orange peel as this warms, along with a little leafy hops, dryness as well. Finishes crisp, dry, with grapefruit pith & a little pineapple

MF: Medium bodied, fluffy carbonation, nice balance

Old school APA that works for me, super easy drinker

A: orange. Medium foamy head. Thin lacing.
S: lemon. Peach. Floral.
T: citrus. Floral. Grapefruit. Basic malt overpowered by hops. Not in-your-face bitter, but it's definitely there.
M: medium carbonation. medium body.
O: pretty good. Hoppy IPA. Nothing spectacular, but tasty. Would buy again.
