A: Pours a deep copper with hints of cherry and a half inch of foamy, off-white head. There's a good amount of lacing on the edges of the glass as you drink and carbonation levels look average to below average. Slightly darker than anticipated but has all the markings of a tasty brew.

S: A plethora of tropical fruits (mango stands out) and flowers assault the nose with a sweet candy, malt undertone rounding things out. Huge aroma on this one, and quite tantalizing to the citrus hop lover.

T: Floral and citrus up front but quickly overtaken with honey, butterscotch and caramel malts. Finishes with lemon peel zest and a bit of grapefruit lingering on the tongue. Decidedly balanced while remaining hop forward.

M: Medium bodied with tame carbonation and a ton of chewiness. Goes down smooth and finishes dry. Quite sessionable.

O: Not a typical APA, but I quite enjoyed it and would happily drink another. Stop kidding yourselves, most of the Deschutes offering are pretty balanced and this one is no exception, though I would say it's more hop forward than the mirror pond. For a flavor/drinkability combination this one is a win. Look elsewhere if you seek something decidedly unique or overly hoppy.

Pours an effervescent amber with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Good head retention & very good lacing

S: Breadyness & citrus, some floral hops as well.

T: Pineyness, orange peel & breadyness & a little bit of sulphur up front, a little bit of pear & white grape as well. A little bit of lime, bready sweetness & orange peel as this warms, along with a little leafy hops, dryness as well. Finishes crisp, dry, with grapefruit pith & a little pineapple

MF: Medium bodied, fluffy carbonation, nice balance

Old school APA that works for me, super easy drinker

This pours a cardboard-straw color with tight bubbles.

There’s a light aroma on it, very muted from the tap. (Does nitro have this effect on beers? I’ve noticed it before.)

The flavor is creamy and smooth, with a mellowish hop profile. Nitro makes for an interesting drinking experience to be sure.

Best by 6/24/14.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy tan head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and candied citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus fruit and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice citrus forward hop presence that still tastes fairly fresh almost a month after the best by date.
