Notes/Commercial Description:
This mouthwateringly delicious IPA gets its flavor from a heavy helping of Citra and Mosaic hops. Don't worry, no fruit was harmed in the making of this beer.

MARCH 2014 Release:

Poured into the spiegelau Sierra Nevada ipa glass from a bottle out out of the new 6 pack release picked up today 2/27/14, says best by 6/7/14 and deschutes uses a 120 day shelf life so I can safely assume this was bottled more or less 3 weeks ago.

A: Copper color, very clear darker color for an ipa, looks great. 2 finger off white head that dissipates to a thin layer covering the surface. Decent lacing on the sides, consumed probably around 40 degrees.

S: that classic deschutes smell, really reminds me of the red chair pale ale, smells great though very fresh very fruity, hoppy, lots of orange/grapefruit. Smells very similar to red chair.

T: tastes very similar to red chair, just a lot more of it. I am getting a bit of alcohol for 6.4, this honestly tastes like a hopped up red chair with more alcohol. It's a very solid beer though I could drink a 6 pack over the course of a day.

M: smooth yet carbonated, not as smooth as red chair.

O: overall I was expecting more based on the reviews, I have had this last year when it was in bombers and remember liking it but wasn't rushing out to buy more. I will finish my sixer and definitely buy more of this throughout the summer, it is a little spendy, (9.99 a sixer at total wine, probably 10.99 here in town)....for what it is. Deschutes does some good stuff but this isn't a huge stand out ipa, I mean it's fresh and tasty but at the end of the day when I can get stone ipa sixers for 7.99 or anything Sierra Nevada for 7.99 this just doesn't stand out enough. I will seek it out on draft and definitely try that.

In the end this honestly tastes like a red chair with more hops and more alcohol. The smell is almost exactly the same. In the end it's a good ipa and I wouldn't ever not recommend it.

Poured into a snifter. Thanks, Darren.

A: Bright gold with an off-white one-finger head that lingers down to medium sized bubbles. Thick lacing. Pretty.

S: A citrus factory featuring grapefruit, mango and pineapple.

T: Semi-sweet, smooth, balanced. A terrific caramel malt/grapefruit hop tango. Very low bitterness. Just got it in before the freshness date expired.

M: Medium with medium/thick carbonation. Very full and rich.

O: Another great reason that non-hopheads can enjoy IPA's. The balance is terrific. Recommended.

6.4%ABV. per bottle label.Best by 11/23/13.Pours into an imperial pint glass a deep burnt orange with a thinner off white head that leaves multiple rings of broken lace as it settles slowly.Ripe zesty citrus fruit hops in the nose with slight note of pine,a big caramel presence as well.Somewhat sweet on the palate with some sugar and caramel/biscuit notes, the hops are juicy and burst out with a big citric fruitiness as well as a lingering resiny finish. The label says it all, it is juicy and fresh tasting.A great beer to be expected.

Thanks to Kevin for cracking this one. The beaming, bright copper body has excellent clarity - clearly a heavily filtered IPA - and is topped with a thick, bubbly, chunky, eggshell tinted head that leaves some spiderweb-ish lacing across a good portion of the glass. Very nice looking IPA; I love cloudy, unfiltered IPAs, but I'll be damned if a crystal clear one doesn't bring a tear to my eye, too.

Wow! I didn't much know what to expect from this one, aside from the fact that it's an IPA, but after taking my first few whiffs, I'm already digging it. Mildly abrasive, sticky pines and woodsy hop notes - it's like sniffing a redwood tree. Earthy, faintly herbal, and on the border of ashy, backed up by a lightly tropical, fruity essence in the form of ripe mangoes and juicy tangerines. Seriously, what a pleasure to smell.

After an aroma like that, my expectations have just rocketed from almost non to sky-high. The first sip reveals that the malt bill is a little heavier than the nose would signify, but it's nowhere close to "over-the-top" levels of sweetness for an IPA. The fruity essence of the hops are also tossed into the foreground; more mango, orange, light pineapple, and maybe even some guava.

The hops are at maximum pungency here, with the herbal and ashy notes playing secondary and tertiary. Pine needles with earthy and dirty undertones weave in and out of the blanket of tropical fruits and toasted bready-sweet malts. The combination of flavors is great, and the bitterness is relevant, yet low enough to retain superior drinkability. Light-medium bodied, not quick sticky; slick and oily with medium carbonation.

Didn't have any expectations for this one and it ended up being great... perhaps that's why? Great mix of tropical fruits and a unique tree-like and woodsy-dirty flavor and aroma from the hops - possibly a contribution of the Mosaic variety. Quite drinkable - this is something that would definitely be a regular in the fridge rotation if it were available in my area. A bit underrated, in my opinion.

I recently went on a boys trip to Portland and hit 10 different breweries. Deschutes has always been one of my favorites, but the Fresh Squeezed IPA became my all time favorite beer. The flavor was exactly what I look for - lots of hops, not too heavy, citrus flavor.

12 oz bottle, best by 6/7/14. Pours slightly hazy orange copper with a big meringue like off white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is lots of hoppy citrus fruits (orange, lemon and some tropical) and some resin hops with a little caramel malt.

The flavor is sweet doughy caramel malts with a lot of citrus and some piney, resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a very nice IPA with lots of sweet, fruity, resiny hops.
