Notes/Commercial Description:
This mouthwateringly delicious IPA gets its flavor from a heavy helping of Citra and Mosaic hops. Don't worry, no fruit was harmed in the making of this beer.

A- large frothy two finger head. Nice medium orange color. Sticky lacing.

S- mango, pineapple, pine, lemon grass.

T- strangely balanced fruity hops. Mango, pineapple, pepper, pine, clean pale grain.
Peppery bitterness takes the edge off the citrusy fruits.

M- medium carb. Slick and smooth.

O- amazing balance for such a citrus hop forward ale.
amazingly easy to drink. Fantastic! Gotta try it.

Appearance: Amber red/brown color. Head of a finger on the pour that was present while drinking. Medium active carbonation. Sticky lacing left behind at each level.

Smell: Solid body of fruity hop tones which mix well with the more grounded, rounded mosaic hop tones. Earthy malt really shines on the body. Tones of caramel and molasses show up on the back end.

Taste: Bright tropical fruits hit the palate first. Those quickly yield to a earthy hop flavor. You really get a distinct profile of the Citra and Mosaic hops on the front. The body is caramelized malt which compliments the Mosaic hops well. The finish is a mild bitterness with lingering fruity hops.

Mouthfeel: Overall pretty heavy feeling on the palate. Carbonation is mild but present.

Overall: Another solid brew from Deschutes. Glad to see this one in the six pack format. Citra and Mosaic hops seem to be very different but come together well here. The bright fruit tones from Citra are balance and held together by the earthy Mosaic tones.

Pours copper, slightest haze, nice body, larger sparse bubbles, small head, solid lacing evident.
Smells fresh and grapefruity in ruby red way...this with a tropical hop fragrance as well. Love the smell.
This tastes as fresh as the smell, with a juicy, somewhat chewy hop flavor of pineapple citrus/ floral notes. The mouthfeel is perfectly balanced for me here, somewhat sweet, then bitter but not in a palate-wrecking way whatsoever. Well-rounded indeed with the malts sweet just right. A great IPA from a world class west coast brewery. I hope to find this again.

Appearance - Pours about 2 fingers of thick golden foam, color of the body is a beautiful bright orange amber, and I'm getting lovely light rings of foam after every quaff.

Smell - Wow - tropical fruits, sweet fruit juices, orange, mango, tangello, huge bright sweet citrus, and some light floral in the background, smells amazing.

Taste - Starts really bright citrus and orange, then a rush of tropical fruits follow - including mango, and flavors of sweet pears, and even some faint banana esters. The finish is a mix of under ripe tropical and citrus piths, with just a touch of lingering citrus sweetness and some nice floral hops.

Mouthfeel - Almost medium, but this is due to the big bold mouth filling tropical and citrus flavors. Carb is perfectly medium - smooth and lightly foaming across the center of the tongue (allowing the flavors to assert themselves completely) with some really nice crisp edges along the sides and the back.

Overall - I'm going to buy whatever is left tomorrow. I absolutely love this IPA - I'm a little biased on this one because the focus is citrus and tropical with light floral - my favorite hop flavors. For citrus hop heads this is a Must Try.

Picked up at the COOP for a pricey (given it is a regular IPA) $5... Pours with a 1 finger off white head atop a very slightly hop hazy orange brew... nice lacing for the entire glass and subsequent pours.

The aromas are mainly melon hoppiness given the assist by a lite malty background that seems to help the hops bloom a bit.

Flavor has a very mild bitter bite given the style, but a wonderful tropical fruitbowl hoppy palate... pineapple and melon come immediately to mind... Within most style guidelines, but I would prefer the lite caramel dialed back some.

Body and carbonation are pretty much spot on.. though it the body could come down a notch IMO.

Pretty drinkable... Though probably too expensive (in 22's) for me to buy again unless I was experimenting with Citra or Mosaic hops when homebrewing. I would happily pay $10ish for a 6'er.

its back in six packs this year, one incredibly refreshing ipa, loaded with citra and mosaic hops, two of my favorites, so this is right in my wheelhouse. clear light amber copper color, lots of bubbles and a frothy and lasting white head over an inch high. it smells less citrusy than expected, but mouth watering and enticing notes of other fruits from tangerines to passion fruits, crisp and clean, hoppy, but not way bitter either. the flavor is the same, some lemon and orange notes, but more tropical fruit flavors too. maybe a touch of pine as it finishes, but this is a light ipa as far as hop intensity. its got some malt balance, maybe even a little more than it needs, it could be a little less filling, but its so tasty and fresh, everything i expected after checking out the awesome label artwork. its west coast, a little thicker, medium carbonation, and a clean finish thats almost a little sweet from all the hop oils and resins hanging around. a nice use of fun hop varietals in a very tasty ipa, not dissimilar to their hop trip fresh hop from this fall. deschutes has ipas dialed.
