Pours dark amber with a bit of red. Nice frothy off-white head. Aroma is strong floral hoppiness dominating with some sweet fruity malt playing backup. Taste: The floral hop bitterness hits first and carries through all the way to the aftertase, which is dry and slightly bitter. The hop flavor is spicy and citric. The malt is present, and has a worty aroma and taste with a hint of tinny metallic overtone - not a bad thing. Had a bit of lacing. This beer is very much hop centered - that's why I loved it! An excellent, robust brew.

The appearance was a nice hazy looking dark red color with a decent two finger white foamy head that must last for a good minute and a half. The head turns a bit lumpy on me with a slightly off-white color to it. There is some decent lacing. The smell had some nice bitter Northwest piney hops backed up by a nice crisp craker-like maltiness. The taste was mainly bitter but added a nice citrus to malty sweetness as it warmed. There’s a decent bitter to somewhat sweet citrusy aftertaste leading to a semi-dry finish. On the palate, it sat at/about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionable aspect to it. The carbonation actually is somewhat smooth and for the most part is pretty good for the style and for me. Overall, this is a good American Amber/Red ale worthy of having again.

Unknown vintage; drank 10/15/15 on (nitro!) draft @ Fischman's.
See-through dark orange appearance.
Off-white nitro head; frothy lace.
Pine & orange citrus notes in the nose.
Creamy, medium mouthfeel.
A smooth mix of pine, cream & orange citrus flavors. Easy to drink.

From bottle, pours a cola/reddish colour with a good white head that disapates to a soapy layer. Aroma malty, grainey, sweet, slight citrus and pine. Taste toffee, caramel, not over powering hops but it is there piney and citrus.

Overly hopped. Not as 3 dimensional as I was hoping from Deschutes.

This is a well put together red ale. Had it on a nitro pour. I enjoyed the balanced elements here and the overall profile. Caramelly malts and biscuit blend with the decent but slightly muted hop elements. The nitro piece helped this go down smoothly.
