Poured into a snifter. Label says Best By 01/05/13
A- Pours a fluorescent light gold color with a 1/2 inch white head that soon dissipates to a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a small strip of bubbles on the surface. Thin, slippery lacing.
S- The incomparable combination of bright, grassy hops combined with rich, sweet Belgian yeast. Also some hints of spices like coriander and ginger plus some lemongrass.
T- Not as flavorful as the aroma suggests. Mildly bitter hops push up against a moderately fruity base and the yeast shows up as a weak, soapy afterthought. Very smooth and easy to drink but almost too light in its execution.
M- Borderline watery with a small hop bite and medium-low carbonation. Light body.
O- Not as good as I was expecting my first Deschutes to be. I'm a sucker for BIPAs but I guess I should have listened to the BA score on this one. Not bad, I've just had better.
