A: White with a light yellowish hue, good retention & lace.

S: Lots of lemon with hints of grapefruit & pine. Smells like an IPA.

T: This 'style' is often muddled, but the flavours here are really complimentary. It's a great wheat beer, without the spice, lemon is upfront, with some underlying grapefruit and pine. Solid bitterness.

M: Well-attenuated, light to moderate body has a crisp, dry finish.

O: Maybe it's just a fruity IPA with a bunch of wheat thrown in, but it really works.

A refreshing break from many of today's over hopped IPA's. Lots of flavor. Drinkable year round.

Once more, my thanks go out to my local, in-person trader, tone77. There are just so many beers available now that I would probably gloss over a large portion of them, but he keeps me grounded.

From the bottle: "What if wheat wasn't the goal in itself? But a route to something awesomely new?"; "Crafted for Explorers Everywhere Since 1988"; "You pair wheat, hops and Belgian yeast and suddenly 'Bingo, a wheat like nobody else's.' With real depth, coriander and sweet orange peel, it's citrus-packed and silky smooth going down."; "Pouring tip: Pour two thirds in a tilted glass. Swirl what's left around the bottle. Resume pouring in all its hazy glory."

I will openly cop to not being a fan of Black IPAs, but I can fully get behind Whites. Nope, not a racist thing as color does not and should not matter, but it just seems like the roastiness of the dark malts gets in the way of the hops' bitterness. Here, the spices compliment and bring out the hops' flavors.

I was excited to get this started, especially after really agitating it in the bottle, per the label's instructions. This resulted in a LOT of foamy, bone-white head that slowly fell, leaving so much sticky lacing behind that I may be forced to break out the jackhammer, despite planning to run the dishwasher later. Nose was really spicy, like coriander, black pepper and even perhaps some saison yeast. I want this in my mouth! Yeah, yeah, that's what she said, ad nauseum. Color was a cloudy lemon-yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) and when combined with the head atop it, it looked like a slice of lemon meringue pie. Mouthfeel was effervescent and the melange of hops and spices was riotous. I was reminded of a recent Law & Order: SVU episode in which a woman was performing fellatio with a mouthfeel of Pop Rocks. This beer is probably what that must be like although I have no personal experience. This was an exciting beer for this self-avowed hophead because it gave an all-new dimension to the style. The finish was dry, but not gasping as some AIPAs have been when saturated with hops. I like them, but this was new and different by comparison.

A: White golden with a light haze and lots of carbonation, 2 fingers of slightly golden tinged white head.

S: Belgian IPA all the way! Light fruitiness, Belgian yeasts and pineapple citrus hops. Slight stink of foot or cheese. Tropical fruit candy.

T: Tropical fruits especially pineapple, light sweetness, good solid but not overwhelming bitterness on the end. Crisp freshness.

M: Light body, light syrup and resinous qualities, light fine carbonation.

O: Reminds me of Ciel de Dieu’s version of a Belgian IPA. Really well crafted. Will give it 9 out of 10. Got in Chiang Mai, drank Nov 19th, 2014.

Another beer that I would guess the style but is really good. This one does not have the amount of hops that I typically associate with a Belgian IPA. What it does have is a big burst of fruit and juiciness. Taste is peach, coriander, wheat, Belgian spices, and slight earthy hops at the end. All of the flavors seem to pop. A very light and semi-sweet beer. This is one I could drink several of, especially as it gets warmer. Really well done.

Poured from a growler (filled @ 16 Tons Union Cafe for Base Camp for Beer Fanatics event) into Deschutes Tulip

A - Pours a brilliant hazy golden rod w/ 1 finger pure white head that fades to a med density cap and leaves great lacing

S - Smells of citrus zest, coriander and orange, lemons and grapefruits, herbal notes, peppery, hay, honestly it smells like a Saison w/ the Dupont strain, kind of tart.

T - Taste mirrors the nose, citrus fruits, pepper and clove, pears, grapefruit, tangy/zippy, herbs and spices, basil, tart, light tropical notes in the back end.

M - Light, crisp, dry, bitter grapefruit finish, zippy and tangy, fizzy bubbles.

O - Very impressed, great marriage of IPA and Belgian Esters, lots of citrus, herbs, spices, hops, very complex, refreshing, and enjoyable, had to have a second pour.

Hazy golden w minimal head & lacing; beautiful floral, papaya nose; light, crisp, fizzy mouthfeel, tastes kind of like a Shandy but with a bit if hops bite in the back end; It was kind of like a more bitter raddler or a slightly assertive shandy

A: Pale yellow, cloudy. Decent head at pour disappates to just a rim and not much lacing on the glass.

S: Orange peel, lemon, floral, some spices.

T: More wheat than IPA - the hops are hidden signifcantly behind the fresh wheat flavor. When detectable the hops are mostly of the floral variety.

M: Light, citrus, good summer beer. Appreciate the different spin on an IPA.

O: Good change of pace for a summer brew. Wish I could get a bit more of the hops coming through as they are dominated by a fresh healthy wheat.

Appearance: pale yellow and cloudy. good amount of foam that dissipates and leaves a fair amount of lace around top of my snifter.

Smell: initial smell is floral that turns into a citrus aroma. Very refreshing

Taste: refreshing lemony citrus taste upfront followed up with a strong presence of pine. wheat, spicy hops. Bitter upfront and finishes smooth with sweet notes, almost like a honey.

Mouthfeel: Bitter, yet light and refreshing. Good amount of carbonation, doesn't leave you overwhelmed with that bubbly fizz.

Overall: Very nice refreshing IPA put out from Deschutes. This will be a great IPA to turn to during the months of July/August when the heat rolls in and you want something with a bitter kick but isn't as mild as say a lager.

Enjoyed from a 12 ounce bottle into a Deep Ellum DreamCrusher snifter glass.

Look: Pours a classic Belgian White look. About 1.5 inch paper white head. Very hazy, yellow-orange.

Smell: muted Belgian white smells with a very orange/citrus smell. Maybe some
Coriander? Along with some lightly citrus and floral hops.

Taste: the way it smells. Lots of citrus, fruity and floral hops. Absolutely delicious.

Mouthfeel: Excellent carbonation w/smooth finish.

Overall: Never had a "Belgian IPA" that went for basically a Belgian White base with a Northwest Pacific Hop profile. Really great beer from a great brewery.

My roommate brought these home and let me try one, so thanks for that Tom. 12oz brown bottle with a freshness date of 05/09/13 located right above the bar code.

The beer poured a cloudy pale yellow color with a 2-finger white head that lasted a few minutes before dissipating to a thin rim. There was lots of lacing, but it didn't stick to the glass. Instead, it formed lots of splotchy circles that slid back into the liquid rather than stick to the sides.

Big fruity and citrusy hop aroma. Also picking up wheat and some coriander spice.

Delicious, although I will have to admit it tastes more like a Belgian wit than an IPA. Orange/grapefruit flavors blend well with the Belgian yeast. There is also a strong wheat presence with a touch of coriander spiciness. Not that bitter for an IPA, but not devoid of bitterness either.

Light and refreshing with low to moderate carbonation.

Another winner from Deschuttes. It goes down easy and is a good thirst quencher.

Deschutes Chainbreaker has a thin, white head and an opaque, brilliant, gold-yellow appearance, with a small amount of lacing left on the glass. The aroma is a very bright, one could describe it, or bursting, citrus and white bread, sugary smell, and the flavor is of sweet orange, white bread, coriander, a bit of white pepper, and orange juice (think of a magnolia). Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Deschutes Chainbreaker finishes tart and highly drinkable.

Look: Pours a very pale yellow color with nice head.

Smell: Wheat and hops.

Taste: A sweet, bready/maltiness I wasn't expecting, with the traditional hop character apparent in most IPA's.

Feel: Very smooth texture, and easy drinking.

Pours out cloudy yellow. The head is white and has minimal retention. There isn't much lacing but all in all the beer looks healthy. The nose is peppery and floral with a good amount of bitterness. I get lemon, flowers and black pepper, plus a good amount of piney hops. The taste is bitter and spicy. I'm still getting that lemon and pepper. The finish is bitter and lingering. The mouth feel is not too heavy not too light. The carbonation is spot on. The beer goes smooth and crisp. A fantastic beer no doubt. I'm extremely happy this beer made it down to Texas. Ill be purchasing this quit often. At least as long as I can get it.

A - hazy light yellow, with a thin head.

S - nice wit aroma with a hint of lemon

T - nice lemon corriander wheat flavor, with citrus hops coming in at the end. Nowhere near the hops I would expect from the IPA label, but that level of hops would ovewhelm this beer, so I appreciate the restraint.

M - light, somewhat fizzy mouthfeel.

Overall, a really nice wheat beer. I thought the IPA in the name is a little misleading, this is more of an attempt to cross a wheat beer with an IPA, so the hops and ABV are not what you probably expect when you see IPA, but Deschutes balanced the characteristics nicely here.

Appearance: (4.5)

- This is a very pretty beer. Pours a light zesty straw-yellow and is slightly cloudy with light yeasts and perhaps other unfiltered sediment. The finger of fluffy white head has slowly settled to a very spotty and creamy layer over the brew with a nice bit of lacing in the glass. Looks damn good.

Smell: (4.0)

- This beer has a wonderful citrus aroma along with a very light bready wheat and banana yeast. Some pine hops are in the mix as well. Light, zesty, lightly spicy, and a little lemony. Smells very refreshing and balanced. There is even a light touch of wheat funk to it as well which is quite good.

Taste: (4.5)

- Nice zesty bright citrus notes, bready wheat malts and light sweet honey. There is a nice light balanced herbal flare from the coriander which is melded in very well with the big spicy hops which seem to grasp both citrus, and pine flavors. Very solid refreshing drinker. Lovely lemon zinger in the finish.

Mouth Feel: (4.5)

- This is another high mark for this beer. Perfectly carbonated, a little drying from the bitter hop, but yet zesty and zingy enough to wet the palate. Very light creamy flare to it from the wheat, and yet a rather light to medium bodied brew. I couldn't drink a ton of these sessionable brews on a sunny day.

Overall: (4.0)

- This is a stand-out beer. As for Spring releases, I think this one will take the cake. This beer is very solid, very balanced, very complex, and just very damn good. I highly recommend drinking a lot of these. Huge fan here.
