This brew was served into a Deschutes snifter during the Base Camp festivities 2012 KCMO. I reviewed it and voice recorded my review on site. Pretty nifty way to do things. Paired with a pretzel roll with cheese. Yum.

Appearance - Poured an awesome yellow gold color with a massive fluffiness of a white head that reached over two fingers, maintained for some time, and left superb lacing.

Smell - The citrus and grapefruit aromas from the hops are at the forefront, but there are detectable levels of Belgian style esters in there, hence the "white" or "Belgian" IPA labeling. Also a touch of wheat in the nose as well.

Taste - Awesome. Bitter enough to be an IPA, wheaty enough to be an APWA, but also with the essence of a witbier. These three essences collide on the palate and are very well balanced between the three.

Mouthfeel - Clean, crisp finish with a bitterness in the aftertaste.

Overall - This is a quality brew. Highly recommended to try it, I will absolutely buy it and maybe feature it with some pretzel cheese rolls at a small tasting event. Why not?

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip glass.

A: Hazy, pale yellow color with over one finger of white foam head. Light lacing remains on the glass.

S: Carbon dioxide overwhelms and dilutes delicate qualities of green plant stems, cloves, and peppery yeast.

T: Begins dry, with very light malt, a trace of bright estery fruit, lemon rind, and aggressive carbonic acidity. Peppery phenolics are mild in the middle where wheat becomes apparent. Herbaceous and lemony flavors mark the barely-bitter finish.

M: Thin to medium viscosity, creamy and acidic on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: While this beer fills a gap in Deschutes' line-up, it is hardly an IPA of any qualification--white or otherwise. Most similar to wit beer, it presents qualities both appropriate and experimental to that style. Austere hops replace traditional seasonings, giving a decidedly herbaceous theme.

$2 pints at Sycamore in Columbia, MO for their Chainbreaker rollout.

A - Poured a cloudy, yellow color with golden highlights. A two-finger, rocky, white head of foam left sudsy patches of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled fruity and yeasty with a touch of wheat.

T - Good fruity bite from the Belgian yeast. Nice cracked wheat flavor with citrus notes.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - They've really combined an American wheat beer and a Belgian IPA. Really cool.

This beer pours a cloudy pale yellow color. The head is a half inch in height, and recedes quickly into minimal lacing. The aroma is of yeast, grapefruit, flowers, and a hint of leather and hay. The taste is similar to the aroma, but a little milder. It would be nice if there were a stronger bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth texture, and moderate carbonation. Overall, this is a decent beer, but there are much better Belgian IPAs out there. I can't see myself drinking this again.

12oz bottle $7 per sixer. Bright yellow color, almost flourescent. Super white head. Smells hoppy, spicy, wit. Taste is a super hoppy wit. Not really a hoppy wheat like say Lagunitas Lil Sumpin Sumpin but truly a witbier with a ton of hops. The "White IPA' moniker is ridiculous but what do you expect from craft beer?

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Sam Adams "Perfect Pint" glass. Bottle says best by 10/12/12.

Appearance: Pours a light and very hazy golden yellow with a lot of rising bubbles. Huge five finger white head with good retention. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A pretty spicy aroma. Belgian yeast with a big smell of coriander and white pepper spices. Wheat and pale malts. Citrus lemon and orange with a light hint of pineapple and mango. Also some spicy herbal hops. Smells refreshing and zesty.

Taste: Big on the spices and citrus like the smell indicates. Belgian yeast and wheat grains along with some pale malts. Big taste of coriander and white pepper. Big citrus esters of lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, and a little mango. Earthy and herbal hops round it out. Hops are more spicy than bitter here. Pretty solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp, zesty, and very smooth. Finishes somewhat dry.

Overall: A pretty solid take on the Belgian IPA. Leans more towards being a wheat beer than IPA, but it has enough hops to keep it from being too light. The spices are very good.

Served on tap into a pint glass at the Bend Brewpub

A- Poured a bright hazy golden color with a frothy head that left minimal lace

S- Some strong citrus and coriander notes, but not really any hop aroma

T- Big orange peel and coriander, pineapple, grapefruit, and a huge astrigency on the finish

M- Might be the most aggressively carbonated beer I have had, finished very dry

O- I loved the flavor of this beer and the astrigency, but the really high level of carbonation on this beer did hurt the drinkable though. I love IPA's and witbiers and I liked this blend of styles a lot.

Poured from 12oz bottle into Tulip.

A. Poured 3 finger light white head. Color is a hazy light golden yellow. Good retention. Moderate lacing.

S. Lemony citrus, some white pepper, hops, mustiness, yeast. Some corriander. Pretty refreshing smell.

T. Pale malt, lemony, some spices on the back of the tongue. A little bit of yeast flavor. Not a lot of hops. Not a tremendous amount of flavor. Drinks easy enought.

M. Medium/light bodied. Pretty dry. Medium carbonation.

O. Not an amazing beer. Easy drinking. Not much flavor. Ok, but not the best white IPA I have had.
