Hazy Straw colored brew with a moderate creamy white head that persists as a light layer and produces decent lacing all the way.

The aroma is citrus and floral hops, very pleasant.

The taste is orange zest, hints of pineapple or other tropical fruit, coriander and a nice zip of floral hops in the finish.

The body is light/medium, smooth and nicely drinkable.

Altogether a very enjoyable combination, especially for summer weather.

Pours a pretty straw blond with appreciable haze and two fingers of nice creamy head that leaves good moderate lacing.

Smells first of floral hops that blend seamlessly with the orange peel, and also sweet malt. Coriander spice is also readily apparent. Only complaint is the slight undercurrent of musty paper that wheat ales can sometimes possess.

Taste first has the moderate bitterness and grassy notes from hops and the citrus flavor of the hops meshes perfectly with the orange in this beer. Hops are very restrained and serve mostly to balance the sweet character. I was really expecting more hops up front since this is supposedly an IPA. Spice livens the palate and brings a nice bite, and the wheat and malt bring slight bready notes. Finish dials up the hops bitterness again and is slightly drying.

Mouthfeel is smooth from the wheat and warm from the coriander with a balancing bite and gentle astringency.

Overall this is a very enjoyable shot at a Belgian wheat ale, though I kind of feel like it should include another shot of hops to not only live up to its title, but cut the sweetness. I like this beer, though, and those nitpicks won't stop me from getting this again.

To good health and good beer.

Chain breaker White IPA is a unique IPA. It has a hazy blonde appearance that to me resembled a wheat beer. It has a light citrus aroma and you can smell traces of the hops. You can definitely taste the orange peels and wheat in this beer. Paired with a hoppy finish and you end up with a nice summer IPA. Overall I would rate it above average as it does differ from most IPA's out there. My wife does not care much for beer and she really enjoyed this ale.

Good hops that are held back a bit (which is to be expected from the Belgian white side), and a little bit of citrus. Not a lot of flavor, but it's nice.

A cloudy straw colored beer with a pillowy white foam cap. Big citrusy hop flavors and aromas blend with orange and coriander. Light, a little above average carbonation, refreshing.

A - Cloudy yellow, with a short white head, some lacing.

S - A bit of lemon and pine, a nice sweet line, and a touch of yeasty funk that produces a off note of garbage.

T - Following the nose, without the funk. Close is a slight sour element.

M - Crisp, bright, and very little drying.

O - Pleasant, drinkable, but not particularly memorable.

A: White golden with a light haze and lots of carbonation, 2 fingers of slightly golden tinged white head.

S: Belgian IPA all the way! Light fruitiness, Belgian yeasts and pineapple citrus hops. Slight stink of foot or cheese. Tropical fruit candy.

T: Tropical fruits especially pineapple, light sweetness, good solid but not overwhelming bitterness on the end. Crisp freshness.

M: Light body, light syrup and resinous qualities, light fine carbonation.

O: Reminds me of Ciel de Dieu’s version of a Belgian IPA. Really well crafted. Will give it 9 out of 10. Got in Chiang Mai, drank Nov 19th, 2014.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle.

L: Hazy yellow with a thick white head, decent carbonation and lots of floating yeast settlement. Head dissipates quickly with light lacing.

S: Some fruity aromas especially pear are detectable amongst a strong smell of Belgian bready malts, Herbal hops and a slight spiciness creep in as well.

T: Very smooth, slightly sweet citrus and pear meld well with the bready malts. Good hop flavor and bitterness. Little bit of spice at the end. Very well balanced and surprisingly complex.

M: Medium body and carbonation with a dry chalky finish.

O: Very well balanced brew. Definitely one of the better White IPA's I've had.

Very good! Crisp belgian pale feel, light citrus and moderate yeasty feel, with touches of floral spice and a warming hop presence in the background. Great session ale for a mild winter day.

What makes this a 4 is it's so damn bright and happy.

A: Turbid, yellow straw, modest head and lace.

S: First - fruity, citric, yeast, bready, then a bit of spice, hop, herbs.

T: Smooth, sweet and bitter at once with good bite, spicy, dry, yeast, fruity, citrus pith, bread, nutty, herbs. Complex and flavorful. Very happy balance.

F: chalky finish, well made.

O: Many have tried wit ipa and this is one of the best. This brewer always near the top.

Most interesting White IPA I've had for a very long time. Beautiful golden hazy unfiltered beer. Nice thick head with lacing that holds for a long time. All the flavors jump without being overwhelming. Apricot, coriander, spices and citrus. Pack the cooler and sit on the porch and enjoy.

A: dingy unfiltered yellow with a finger and a half of head that slowly dissipates to half a finger with moderate lacing. S: citrus, citrus, and some citrus. Hints of hops and orange peel. T: strong flavor of apricot, citrus and bread at first, then followed by citrus hops with hints of bitter hops. F: moderate carbonation, refreshing and smooth. Could drink these all day. Gonna bring at least a six the next time I go fishing for a day. O: great springtime or summertime brew. Added this one to my top warm weather backyard brew.

Another beer that I would guess the style but is really good. This one does not have the amount of hops that I typically associate with a Belgian IPA. What it does have is a big burst of fruit and juiciness. Taste is peach, coriander, wheat, Belgian spices, and slight earthy hops at the end. All of the flavors seem to pop. A very light and semi-sweet beer. This is one I could drink several of, especially as it gets warmer. Really well done.

This beer poured a nice opaque gold with about a half a finger of head and persistent lacing. This was an approachable Belgian ale, not overly sweet or acerbic but balanced with a refreshing but astringent impact on the palate and a moderate, mouth-coating feel. The aroma isn't strong, more characteristic of a Belgian, not at all piney or hoppy. Thoughts of lemon, white raisins, coriander, and mild cloves are evoked. IPA seems a misnomer; to even call it a pale ale is generous but regardless of genre it was an enjoyable and very refreshing brew.

12oz bottle best by 2/24/15 poured into a DFH IPA glass
A: Hazy light orange with a one-finger head that settles quickly
S: Orange, coriander, white flowers
T: Wheat, coriander, hints of flowers and citrus. Pure but light
M: Light-bodied, spicy, the finish is a bit short
O: Worth a try, but would be better if the hops were more forward- I would classify this as a Belgian Pale Ale, not an IPA

Look: Pours a very pale yellow color with nice head.

Smell: Wheat and hops.

Taste: A sweet, bready/maltiness I wasn't expecting, with the traditional hop character apparent in most IPA's.

Feel: Very smooth texture, and easy drinking.

I really had only tried one white IPA before, but most any beers from Deschutes are worth a shot, plus it was on tap at happy hour, so I figured I'd give it a go. It's really cloudy, a lot like a wheat, but mellow and at the same time very flavorful, which isn't always the case with straight wheats. And it's not as hoppy as most straight IPAs. As such, I liked it a lot more. Apparently I'm now a fan of white IPAs.

Appearance: Opaque straw color with floating yeast. Quickly dissipating white head with somewhat decent lacing.

Nose: Faint papaya and vanilla with some lemon zest and wheat.

Taste: Crisp carbonation with lemon and hoppy bitterness. A nice, slightly sudsy finish. Wheat and a tiny bot of heat coming through at the end.

Notes: Im not sure exactly what to compare this to, as it is the first Belgian IPA I've ever had. Interesting style with many possibilities.

Hazy golden w minimal head & lacing; beautiful floral, papaya nose; light, crisp, fizzy mouthfeel, tastes kind of like a Shandy but with a bit if hops bite in the back end; It was kind of like a more bitter raddler or a slightly assertive shandy

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, "best by" date 1-16-15.

APPEARANCE: pours a hazy, straw color with larger bits of sediment floating about, one-finger white head that slowly dissipated until a thin nearly unbroken layer of small bubbles remained, there is some lacing on the glass, medium carbonation.

SMELL: lemon, bread, wet hay, dank and musty.

TASTE: this is a complex wheat beer, initially sweet lemon citrus and bread, there is some banana and a nice hop profile at the end.

OVERALL: I really enjoyed this beer, something different for me, it's a Belgian wheat beer with a bigger hop profile, the hop profile is not as much as most IPA's but it was enjoyable, I would definitely buy this again.

Light yellow. Looks like a fairly healthy urine specimen.
Smells like spices particularly cinnamon and a little citrusy too. Tastes approximately like pears sprinkled with cinnamon. It's light and easy to drink but kinda blends in with all the other servicable white ipas out there.

355ml bottle poured into tulip 21/12/14

A murky pale yellow, enough clarity to see a few bubbles popping up here and there, thumbs width of loose soapy foam has enough retention to leave a thick collar of lace

S pineapple, canned peaches, lots of sweet orange peel, more tropical then expected, coriander, dry cereal, vitamin C chewable's and a little perfume

T much more spice and much less tropical hops, fairly toned compared to the nose, cereals come out a little stronger, just a hint of yeast

M light bodied but frothy from the bubbles, strange even, very slick on the palate almost slimy, spicy rind lingers

O decent WIPA but nothing to really set it apart, the nose was great but it couldn't maintain that quality throughout but still solid

I could drink a few of these under a hot sun, perhaps better suited for a summer day but no major complaints on this chilly evening

A: Milky pale yellow, plenty of carbonation in streams and loose. Produces a rich dense white head that leaves a nice little layer on top. A wavy blanket of lace remains; excellent.

S: Good combo of lemon, hoppy orange, coriander, touch of wheat, mild yeast. Very appetizing.

T: The flavors have taken a step back from the intensity of the nose (which wasn't very intense to begin with). Addition of white pepper mid-palate. I would have liked to see more bitterness and/or range of hop flavors. Clean finish, but short. It could last a little longer and still retain its high drinkability,

M: Light bodied, the high carbonation is on its way to being harsh.

O: As it is, it's good. Tasty flavors and excellent drinkability. No flaws by what's in it, only flawed by what isn't. I'm by no means a hop head, but I still would have thought an IPA would have more hop character (otherwise call it a hoppy Belgian White). Still, if I'm looking to put down a 6 pack on a hot summer day, this will be a top contender.

Pale yellow, head fades fast leaving no trace.

Coriander, wheat, floral hops in the nose.

Interesting belgia/german type blend of wheat, coriander, clove, orange peel, and pine.

Highly carbonated.

Crisp little hybrid beer here, evocative of a witbier mainly.
