Like fresh powder, it’s a seize-the-moment thing. This year we've chased down Virgil Gamache Farms' famed Amarillo hops. At harvest, we rush the hops from the vine to our kettles to ensure we capture the purest, juiciest essence of the hop flower in every beer. Enjoy the bright, bold aroma and flavor that comes but once a year.

Roommate brought these home so not sure of cost or where he got them, but so far everything we've tried from Deschutes has been good, so hoping for another godd one here. 22oz brown bottle with a freshness date of 12/18/13, so it needs to e drunk now.

The beer poured a pale yellow color which tuned clear bright yellow when held to the light. The 1½-finger white hrad lasted a few minutes and left some nice lacing.

This smells citrusy - like oranges and lemons.

Lots of hop flavor, but not a lot of hop bitterness. Orange, lemon, and tangerine flavors with a touch of pine underneath. The malt is bready and miuldly sweet and blends well with all the hop flavors.

Medium bodied with a creamy texture. Carbonation is higher than normal but works well with this.

I liked it. Another winner from Deschutes.

32 oz growler from a freshly tapped keg.
A: Aggressive side pour into a pint glass. Giant 3 finger, eggshell-white head. Slowly receding and creating a pillow-like cloud resting on the surface of the beer. The beer is a cloudy, light gold color about the color of straw. Carbonation is just right and bubbles range in size from foam to 3/8". Nice sticky lacing left on glass where head was and the head is retaining very well at about 1/4" along the side of the glass and a slight foam on the beer surface.
S: Strong fresh hop profile. Resiny, pine, citrus, grapefruit, malt, a light breadiness. This smells very fresh and clean like one could imagine if a beer was fresh from the shower using hops for soap. :)
T: Tastes even better than it smells and it smells very good. Crisp finish and nice bitteness lingering on the tongue along with some bite from the hops. Its inviting me to take another quaff.
M: Smooth and creamy followed by a crispness coming from the hops. Carbonation is fantastic. The finish is wonderfully smooth and slightly crisp.
O: This is a very well constructed beer with all the elements you expect from an IPA and an amazing smoothness that is atypical from many other IPAs which are biting. The flavor and smell are very well blended. Its a beer that invites you to take another mouthful. I like it a lot.
