Man this place was a find. Michael and his mother were extremely helpful and generous. We were driving South through North Carolina, and Michael went into his private stash to hook us out of towners up. Overall excellent experience.

Just stopped in here and had a fantastic experience and conversation. Michael is the man! He saw that we were from out of town and gave us the VIP treatment. Will stop in here everytime I'm in town.

Visited here while teaching for a week in Charlotte. Delightful customer service. Hard to judge selection since I'm not familiar with the area but I managed to spend a couple hundred dollars on wicked weed and cascade beer I can't get here at home. Lovely, lovely place

I got to meet Mike yesterday for the first time. It was my second visit to his store. While the space is small, the selection is excellent and the customer service superb. Even though I wasn't a regular, he sold me what I wanted (GL Christmas Ale) from his "best customer hold back stock." He also let me taste New Belgium's La Folie (the taps are now open) which blew me away. It bought it and several other of his suggestions. I live in Gaffney, SC, so to get good beer I have to make a beer run to either Greenville or Charlotte. My first stop in Charlotte will be Brawley's from now on. Mike's beer knowledge is that of a master. I look forward to reviewing his recommendations. Take the time to discuss with him what your preferences are and he'll hook you up with fantastic beer.

I'm the type of girl that LOVES beer! Guinness style, deep, dark, flavorful beer. And then 3 weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease and have been searching for gluten free options besides cider! While searching for a location to buy a specific Dogfish beer, I found Brawley's. BIG. SIGH. OF. RELEIF.

The owner showed me the shelves (no, not shelf, SHELVES) of their gluten free beer options. And this wasn't even including cider or the dreaded Redbridge. Not only did they carry the multiple brands I have looked up, but they also carried bands that I had never heard of an am so excited to try. Then he asked if I had considered Mead... really hadn't thought about it, but it was a GREAT suggestion. He showed me the selection and suggested a few that were worth trying.

So very helpful. So very friendly. And while I went in intending to buy one type of Gluten Free Beer, I left with a few. In addition, he did not carry a Pumpkin Cider I had read about and is contacting his Harpoon Distributer to see what he can get on hand.

As long as I am in Charlotte, this will be where I buy my Gluten Free Beer... and Mead... and cider.

Brawley's, a Charlotte institution. I'm assuming it's located in an old gas station, because that's what it looks like to me. The shop is old and small but don't let that fool you because it's very well taken care of. Although there's not massive shelf space or a big warehouse feel there is certainly plenty of beer lining the shelves to keep me satisfied along with a small-ish cold storage room in the back.

The owner was great. Talkative and enthusiastic. Quick to give tips on an upcoming roadtrip around the area. He knows his beer and loves to share information. The store selection is expertly handpicked and well thought out. NC locals and seasonals stuf the shelves with smatterings of out of state offerings and imports. All prices are beyond fair. If you're in Charlotte Brawleys is a must.

Excellent service and a great selection of beers from everywhere. A true beer geek. Not hard to get to even though I'm not local, it's still being built, and will feature taps in the future, so the floor is crowded a bit. Would be my top spot if I was local, but I drive 2 hours one way to get here every now and then too, I can't say that about any other place
. Highly recommend the service is incredibly good, and in a competitive retail market owner enthusiasm is a real separator.

It was great to finally meet Michael at his awesome store. My Mom lives in the Carolinas and has been swinging by for years to seek out rarities to bring up to Toronto. This year's beercation brought us to North and South Carolina, and Brawley's was top of mind for a visit.

Found some rare treats and learned of the secret identity of the man on the bottle of Olde Hickory Daniel Boone.

Great vibe, super friendly owner (Michael), killer selection, and soon to be completed tap room make this a must stop for beer enthusiasts.

I see the high marks so many must be neighborhood people who frequent quite a bit and know the people who work here. Upon my 3rd visit and a few purchases each time, I guess I'm still a stranger, but that's okay. I drive a decent way to see places and check out selections, so I would at least expect a little friendliness.

Selection for the unknowns is what is on the floor. Some on shelves, many open cases or coolers. I did see a few things here I couldn't get elsewhere, but their Twitter/Facebook feeds advertise some specials, but I found they are not for everyone, only their regulars.

I asked why I would have a reason to come back if they wouldn't sell me what I came for, and was told they try to keep their regular visitors first. I didn't see a crowd (I was the only one inside or in the parking lot) and was there for at least 45 minutes looking around.

I understand the regulars but if the beer was released 4-5 days prior, aren't paying customers wanted first? I can understand holding special releases for a day or 2 after receiving them, but after 5 days? I'll be back again to see if anything changes, but I can go elsewhere, just hope they learn as it is a decent shop.

No taps at this time, but was told anywhere from April to November of 2014.
