Stopped in to this store on the recommendation of other reviews from this site. I must say it is quite a nice little store. Definately the best place in Charlotte to pick up some beers. They basically offer all of the good stuff that you can legally get in N.C. The service is exceptional as well. Seemed like Mike was genuinely interested in talking to me and was willing to do some beer trading as well. This is the kind of store that I would frequent (and do). If you are in the area, or even if you aren't, it is worth seeking out. Once Pop-the-Cap eliminates the 6% law, I'm sure Mike will be one of the first to start carrying the other beer selections we can't get here. He loves and misses them just as much as we do.

EDIT: Now that the cap has popped, Brawley has firmly planted himself as the top beer store in Charlotte. In fact, anyone wanting a top notch store should take notes from Mike. Great store... great owners... and now a great selection that is still ever improving. I don't know why you aren't there right now!

Hey Charlotte, buy your beer here! Thanks to my fellow BA's for steering me towards this great little store. Don't let the size fool you, Mike Brawley packs a lot of quality products into his space. He is quick to meet and greet and more than happy to shoot the shit about beers. He has the BEST selection I have yet seen in NC. It's not just quantity either, quality is the key here. Mike is adament when it comes to keeping his stock fresh. He's so sure that your purchase is fresh that he will gladly accept returns if you aren't satisfied. He supports ALL of the local NC brews such as Highlands, Cottonwood, Duck-Rabbit, and Edenton. He also has many great West Coast micros like Avery, including Old Jubilation(a very nice surprise), most of the Rogue bombers, Lost Coast, North Coast, Left Hand and Pyramid. I found DFH, Mad River, and even a nice selection of English and Belgians, even VAL-DIEU!!! Who else in Charlotte not only has Anchor OSA, but has a stock of the big, corked bottles as well. Where the Hell else are you going to find a 4-pack of Dutchesse De Borgogne around here, no where! Overall I was very pleased and will be returning again(and again, and again...) If you live anywhere near Charlotte do yourself a favor, stop at Brawley's and show him some love.

Whats up Mike,
I cant say enough about this place, great beer, great service, great everything, this is just about the only place I shop and i work in a beer store if that gives you any kind of clue as to how great Brawleys is. If you are ever in the Charlotte area go buy and check this place out for sure, you wont be disappointed. With the new 15% on beer I know this is going to be where its at. The owner Mike really respects beer and the people who drink it. This isnt a place you go into , and the resident beer guy dosnt know what hes talking about , Mike really knows his stuff and his product. When i first started drinkng beer this guy really helped me out, and pointed me in the right direction. So if your within a hundred miles go check em out.

I can't say enough about how great Brawley's is. I just recently got to visit for the first time since I was in Charlotte for the week.

We walked in and were greeted by Mike, who showed us around the store and told us all about what he had been getting in as well as what he would be getting in soon and told us all about the store. Then he showed us some pictures from his trip to Maine and the breweries there. I knew I was talking to a guy who had a real passion for beer like I do! This is something that's too rare, even when it comes to owners of beer-centric stores.

What can I say, they treated us like family! Never have I been in a store where I felt so good about making purchases, not only because I knew I was getting well-taken care of, fresh beer, but because I was supporting a great small business that knows how to treat their customers and make a great experience for everyone who comes in!

Quality is superb, they take very good care of all of their stock, and it seems that Mike watches the freshness dates on the beers like a hawk. There's lots of beer in coolers, and some not, but it's certainly not too warm for beer in there.

I don't think there is a beverage store with better service than Brawley's.

The selection is top-notch for North Carolina. They had recently received the >6% Unibroue beers, one of the first stores, if not the first in NC as I understand. Now they even have Geary's from Maine, a brewery whose beers I've wanted to try for some time. Their selection is growing all of the time!

As for prices, you won't find better ones in NC, or anywhere else around here. Everything was very reasonable.

You must stop in here if you're in the area, or anywhere near. You won't be disappointed. I'm certainly going to be a regular, even though I'm kind of far from Charlotte. Thanks again to Mike and his parents for bringing great service and great beer to us!

OMG, not just good, but the best!

The first Chimay sold in Charlotte was at his store (just days after the cap was popped). More selection arrives every day and he (Mike Brawley, the younger) knows his beer. You ask his opinion on what you like and he can steer you to at least 3 options. If you become a regular, you will gain some of his knowledge by osmosis. What you want in a beer store, he's got it.

My only complaint is that Arrogant Bastard won't be here for another 6 months, but that's not his fault.

I stopped by here before a wedding in Pineville. The Beerfly reviews rated this place well, and they were not lying.

Excellent service from the moment I walked in, directing me to all the delicious beers up front and in the back cooler. Great selection for such a small place. I found everything I was looking for, except for the DFH 90 Min IPA, which was out of stock (apparently all over NC). No worries, I walked out with a box full of excellent beers I can't find in SC. Everything seemed to be in line with prices I've seen elsewhere, if not a bit lower.

This place made me very happy. Giddy, really. I'll be back for sure.

Left Total Wine the other day, and on a hunch, stopped in here before I headed home. I had never noticed this place before. This guy rocks! He carries every Rogue (or will order it) that can legally be carried in NC. He also has a few Dogfish offerings (he's a fan), some Sam Smith, North Coast, etc. He has a very nice selection for a small store....and best of all...price! He is a little cheaper than Frugal or Total Wine. A nice guy, great price, and as good of a selection as I've seen...particularly for a smaller store. If you are in this area, definately give him a try!

EDIT - 9/25/05

The cap has been popped and Brawley is taking full advantage where others are falling behind. Avery, Orval, Satan, Corsendonk, Rochefort, Gulden Draak, La Chouffe.... the list goes on and on! Great service and prices as usual... the only place in the Charlotte area to go IMO....

EDIT 10/15/05

Ok, time to give Mike the straight 5's that Brawley's Beverage deserves. I rarely give 5s for beers or BeerFlys, but I come in here about once a week, and every week there is something new that I can't believe he has! The Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock this week, for example. Additionally, he is acquiring a nice selection of glasses. I used to drive 3 hours to Vintage Cellar in VA before these laws changed.... now there is a place within 15 minutes of me that is BETTER than the infamous Vintage Cellar. That's right, it is BETTER... and that place is Brawley's Beverage - check it out.

What can I say about Brawley's that hasn't already been said. The place is awesome. When you walk in Mike Brawley always greats you with a smile and a friendly hello. For a small place he packs it full of beer. Not just any beers, but a wide selection of high quality hard to get beers. And he's always adding more. No crap in this place. Well, actually he does have one side of one cooler with bumpkin beer. But you gotta have that I guess. Mike's always willing to answer questions and hang out. Kinda has that old General Store type of feel to it. Music plays and You can even get a cup of gourmet coffee and a Biscotti to enjoy while your shopping. This place has become my beer store. No more trips to Virginia for beer for this guy. And if your into wine, this is the place. Mike knows a lot about wine as well as beer and his prices are competitive or better than the other so called specialty shops in the Southeast. Great selection. Good prices. Great place all around.

Also, if you blow a water pump in his parking lot he'll do all he can to get you back on the road again. Thanks Mike.

Everything you've read is true. Great selection of Belgians. The owner was very helpful and friendly. I was in town on business from St. Louis and totally lucked out as this place was in range of my hotel shuttle. Needless to say, the shuttle driver ended up waiting awhile. There were a lot of brews that aren't available in my area that I was drooling over. It was the first time I've ever seen any of Brooklyn Brewing's beers (and I've checked about a dozen states). I picked up the Black Chocolate Stout and their Octoberfest. The manager also gave me a Tshirt. There is a chance I will be back in a few months on business and, if so, I will be back. I wish I could have bought more, but carrying 2 six packs in a bookbag through airports is about all I can handle.

Brawley's is the best place in Charlotte for beer. They have a great selection, the service is unmatchable, and the prices are very comparable to other establishments. Total Wine and More is across the street but all you need is here. Mike is an exceptional BA. His parents are BA's as well. They dont have quite the knowlegde but they are willing to voice their opinions and direct one to good beer. I was in there today and the mother was a tremendous help. I tried to buy a bottle of Sam Adams Double Bock but, alas, it was not for sale. I asked for a bottle of Peche Mortal and within minutes, it was in front of me. I asked for DFH Olde School, and the same thing happened. I asked for DFH 90 min IPA about a month ago, and they brought out a 4 pack of the beer. Whatever you want, they got. Great service, great selection, wonderful people. Best place (a tie with Peabody's in Boone) in NC. GO THERE Danielsan!!!!
