I didn't envision myself to make BeerFly review #250 a liquor store with a modest craft beer selection, higher than average prices, and...what's this? Did I just spot some Stone 8*8*08? And 2009 Stone IRS? Now we're talking. All the beer is refrigerated, dust free, and displayed fair with pricetags, though having the beers I just typed concerns me a little about freshness. In additon to those already said, there's Lagunitas, Bootleggers, Hofbrau, Ballast Point, and more. All said, this is a more than decent stop for craft beer, and the few extras of older Stone vintages mentioned in this review will probably attract a few extra beer lovers to come.

Santa Anita Wine & Spirits is located just north of the 210 Freeway in a small strip mall. It has your typical liquor store feel and layout.

Most beers were in coolers. They carried a decent selection of craft beers, mostly the well-distributed brands and beers. That being said, it's a nice place to pick up craft beers in this immediate area.

The cashier was friendly and welcoming.

A typical liquor store with a surprisingly good selection of import and craft beers--and considering that there aren't many great stores in the area, this is a regular stop for me along with Certified Market just a couple miles east on Foothill. While their selections do overlap, you can definitely find different things at both places. This store has a wider range of Belgians and other imports to be sure, and perhaps a slightly larger stock of craft beers. The only problem here is that I have found that the stock is not necessarily always the most fresh, so don't forget to check for bottling dates!

Selection includes (but is not limited to): a broad range of Sierra Nevada, Rogue, Samuel Smith, Bear Republic, Stone, Fullers, McEwens, Edelweiss, St. Peter's, etc., etc. I will need to take better stock next time I drop in.

Santa Anita Wine & Spirits is a mom-and-pop liquor store located just north of the I-210 in Arcadia, not more than a couple miles from the Santa Anita racetrack.
As liquor stores go, it looks pretty average on the outside and when you enter initially. However, once you get over the posters of bikini-clad models pimping each and every macro and start focusing on the task for which you arrived in the first place, you'll not be disppointed.
Despite the plentiful macros, you'll find this store carries a full range of Stone Brewery beers, all in 22oz bombers and the Pale Ale in 6-packs. I was able to pick up a bottle of Stone's 6th Anniversary Porter here, though the 7th Anniversary Ale was not in stock. Also in stock was a wide range of Rogue beers including the Morimoto Soba ale I'm drinking now. Also a nice range of Samuel Smith's and Fullers on hand. Others noted were McEwens, Edelweiss dunkel and hefe, Hop Rod Rye (got one) and a few from Unibroue.
Service is decent. Prices maybe a bit steep ($5.49 for the Stone - not sure how bad that is). The clerk was helpful and friendly.
Selection gets an average score due to the huge volume of macros. They take up damn near half the store. Still, the selection of craft beer and imports is pretty good for the equivelant of a neighborhood liquor store. If I like the 6th Anniversary Porter, I know where to go to get the rest!
