Went to twice place twice while on a vacation.
The building itself is really nice to look at. Very cozy type feeling while inside.
Our first time around our service was pretty bad but the second time around the service was excellent.
Plenty of televisions around showing rugby, football, and soccer (sorry, futbol).
This place offers standard Irish pub grub and it's great! Their Wild Mushroom soup was very delicious as well as their Chicken, Leek, and Bacon Boxty. That meal was astounding.
The beer selection was ok. Plenty of local brews as well as some domestic and imported brews. Wasn't really impressed or happy about the selection but you have the standard favorites available so all is not lost.
Great place and atmosphere here with some great food to along with it. While the brew selection is barely average it's still a grand place to feast with your pals.

Part of Calgary's Best Pubs chain which includes Kilkenny in Brentwood, Shanechie (?spelling), and one other that escapes me. This one has forty or more taps including many local beers. Between 5 and 6 they have a half price happy hour which is great for draft. Too bad they no longer have Wildrose contract brew Double Arrow. It was a great house beer and sessional that won the best beer award at CAMRA's Real Ale Festival. One of the best Steak Sandwiches I have had in Calgary, sale priced on Thursday.

I have been wanting to check out Limerick's for a while now, so Friday after work it was time for a couple pints. Part of the "Calgary's Best Pubs" chain that includes Kilkenny, Dixons, and Seanachie, Limericks is located right on Macleod Trail South.
After stopping at the bar to count the taps, we found a comfortable spot on the patio to enjoy the setting sun. We were a little late for happy hour, but prices were still reasonable. One of ther best selections of draft beer in Calgary (both variety and quality of brews). I was happy to see all four Wildrose selections available, love their brown ale. Also the first place I have seen Aprikat on tap.
Service was helpful and attentive, offering to refill the pints just before being emptied.
Food is pretty typical pub food, nothing out of the ordinary, kind of greasy, but it was just what we expected. We had a number of appetizers (nachos, potatoe skins, dry ribs) and all were good.
A great place to meet friends for a drink.

I don't normally frequent establishments on MacLeod Trail, in fact I tend to avoid that street any chance I get. However I used to work near this place, and know many people who still do, and they initiated me into the finer points of Limerick's. The one-two punch has to be their rather impressive list of imported ales and lagers combined with their happy hour prices. Which means I'm paying $3 for a pint of Guinness, Newcastle or Tennent's lager, or anything else on their extensive list of domestics or imports numbering around 48 taps. I like those odds. Fairly decent environment, it's a mixed crowd, but more towards the corporate, ball-cap wearing, wishy-washy crowd. Still, at those prices I'll swath a clear path to a vacant table and stick to my own company.
Service so far has been pretty good, very attentive and knowledgable. Food is standard pub fare, nothing that I was really tempted to order myself, and have only sampled appetizers that my companions have ordered. Still, I think I have made my point clear: impressive draught selection combined with tempting happy hour prices. Yes, this is where I now spend a fair amount of my early Friday evenings after work. 'Nuff said.
