Slightly hazy bronze with a stream of bubbles and piles of crusty creamy white froth that sticks and leaves big rings.
Musty orange rind nose that's very EKG along with some wax and perfume Belgian yeast.
Clean crackery pale grain up front with some lemon rind and must, a bit of white plum, then wood spice hops with some resin.
Citrus peel end and long bitter linger.
Lt-med, slight chew, round, creamy.

Labeled "L.I.P.A." - Lowlands IPA.

Shotgun combo of Belgian yeast, English hops and American sensibilities. Edgy yeast and lots of IBUs make for a fairly lean brew, moderated by a silky body. Needs aroma and depth, but drinkable and well made.

An orange color with a big frothy head that clings to the glass.

The smell is hoppy, with notes of anise and fresh mowed grass. The EK Goldings hops give the beer a distinct smell that is fresh and herbal. The yeast character is mild and appears to give a fruitiness.

The taste is a bit weird, there is the anise which was in the smell, but then there is fennelseed too. This gives the beer a bit of a medicinal and herbal taste, which is a little overpowering. The yeast is medium fruity and gives an English fruitiness. The body and mouthfeel are ok, but this is a one time beer for me.

Tap at the brewery in Amsterdam

Big fluffy 2 finger head fades semi slowly with nice almost soapy lacing, hazy honey orange color.

Nose has decent hops, little citrus, little leafy and grassy but slightly earthy too, Euro style hops. Light sweet caramel malts under all that.

Taste starts with nice hops, Euro style again with a grassy slightly leafy earthy hop flavor, fair bitterness. Malts bring light sweetness and a light reddish malt, little yeasty flavor though. Faint citrus comes through as I go. Finish has a nice long bitterness, more earthy grassy hops, light malt, fairly dry.

Mouth is med to slightly fuller bodied, nice carb.

The American hop part of my palate at least should be happy. On-tap at De Prael taphouse, on to the beer:

Color is pale orange with a good creamy head on top which retains well and leaves good lace around. The nose is pleasant, showing that the Dutch can replicate the American beer geeks favorite style. I smell honey, orange, and sugar coasted citrus. Similar to the aroma, the taste offers a pleasant graham cracker base, sweet and tart orange, and hop resin. It also brings a kiss of plastic, which I can't understand where it came from. The bitterness is pleasant though. It's medium bodied and somewhat smooth, finishing off this good interpretation of an IPA.

On-tap at De Prael Proeflokaal, Amaterdam, Netherlands

A: The beer is relatively clear dark yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Aromas of yeast (the kind of clumps you find near the bottom of a bottle) are present in the nose along with hints of herbal hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but has more flavors of herbal and spicy hops along with underlying notes of cracker malts and a light to moderate amount of bitterness. The herbal hops linger through the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little chewy on the palate with a moderate amount if carbonation.
O: This is an interesting IPA that has a unique blend of hops and seems rather chewy and malty for the style.
