Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy light tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Small chunks of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is of grain, honey, fruit, and white grape juice aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, honey, and caramel covered fruit flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but the aromas I am getting are slightly better to me.

Serving type: bottle.

Purchased at Total Wine in Spokane for $4.99. According to the label, this is best before April of 2011(?).

Poured into a Iron Goat snifter, this beer was an opaque, russet color that took on a more apricot hue when held up to light. On top was a couple of inches of off-white foam that dropped after a few minutes, leaving some spotty lace. There appears to be a small amount of sediment as well.

Strangely nutty in the initial aroma, along with some fruity funk.

The taste was surprisingly honeyish, which didn’t come through the aroma at all. There’s a a lemon –like taste in the background and some mild, spicy Belgian yeast notes. There was also a slightly bitter, grassy hop flavor in the background.

Fairly light bodied, with a moderately sticky, ever so slight grainy mouthfeel.

Not bad, but not something I’d want more than one of at a sitting. I was rather surprised at how sweet it was.

From the 11.2 fl. oz. bottle with the label clipped at 02/08. I do not know what that indicates but at the very least it is 5 years old since I sampled it on June 26, 2013.

It does not look bad. The color is light amber with lots of cloudiness due to the bottle fermentation I expect.

Honey! That's what I get right off on the nose. Belgian malts and Belgian sugar sweetness plays second fiddle to the honey ester that is in your face!

The body comes in at around medium but it is smooth and creamy.

The taste is uber-sweet with honey and Belgian sugars. Those really speak for the entire brew. The hops are muted but can be found slithering distantly in the background. I can't say it finishes dry but there is a low bitterness at the finale. Maybe a fresher bottle would give me a different outcome.
