33cl bottle, purchased on my recent trip to Brussels.

Pours a copper to orange hue and makes a huge fuffy white head into my Duvel glass. Head is long lasting and there's nice lacing on my glass. Aroma is sweet clove/coriander, fruity and floral, notes of banana. Flavor is rich of sweet complex malts, spices and a slight alcohol bite, bananas, clove, coriander, mild citrus. Full bodied, rich and creamy texture on the palate, goes down very smooth and finishes dry. This is very good, I would buy it again.

I'm always excited to try new Belgian Tripels, when I find them! The old men on the label look pretty happy to drink it, hopefully it makes me happy also.

Appearance is a little watery and the bubbly foam dies down reasonably fast. Aromas are banana, cloves and coriander, kind of like a wheat beer a little. Alcohol is easy to detect in the aroma.

Lighter than many other Belgian Tripels. Quite bready with the same flavours that were detectable in the aroma. Hops are kind of intertwined with the malt and add a bitterness without a huge amount of flavour. Mouth feel is a little watery and it lacks the interesting foamyness and taste sensations of other Tripels.

Not really a fan of this, it's a little unexciting for me and definitely one of my least favourite Belgian Tripels.

I'd just bought 5 Leroy brews via Craft Shack's apparent deal with Win-It-Too. The deal is fine with me in that almost anything that improves distribution and takes control away from states is progress for the craft market. But, I was beginning to wonder what Leroy really was. Was it some marketing concept whose labels show happy monks yucking it up in their cellar? Or was Leroy actually a competitive brewer? I had enough of their ales and wanted less enough of them to think seriously that I should not bother with Leroy and, instead, focus on the masters.

Then along came Leroy's tripel. It is close to competitive. (But, it is still can't beat the masters.) Nonetheless, I had the foresight (somehow) to pour Kapittel's ABT into Westmalle's elegant goblet. And while Kapittel is no match for that master, Kapittel's tripel, at least, resuscitates the brand IMHO.

Abt Looks like a barely above average tripel; decent head, but not much active foam of a yeast working overtime. Smells promise fruit. Tastes are balanced by just enough hops/herbs to keep this interesting. (Personally, I'd like the yeast to kick in some more Peppa.) Medium-mouthed, Abt is cleansing; but I think I'll try Kapittel's Blond with dinner. A Votre Sante' !

Appearance is golden, hazy and topped with a foaming buffon. The hair cut is quickly evaporated to leave a slimline lacing.

Aroma is very boozy, but no getting away from the beasty 10% abv. Smokey and sweet, like a burning fruit crate.

Taste is powerful on the alcohol, but to be honest this isn't a bad thing with this brew, it has enough spicy notes to make this feel like a winter warmer. Very pleasant.

Feel is smooth and even with that alcohol hit, it isn't a tongue destroyer.

Overall, a quality tripel, of that there is zero doubt. A contender? Some will absolutely love this, not many will dislike it.

Golden color with a thin head.
Aroma with interesting smoked notes on this light-colored brew.
Flavor with notes of smoke and toasted malts, wood, herbal hops, caramel and candied sugar. Dry aftertaste with a mild to medium bitterness.
Medium body with mild carbonation.
Tripel with nice orange, sugary and herbal hops notes.

Pours a foggy straw with two fingers of white foam that maintain extremely well. Aroma is straw, honey, wheat, and yeast. Flavor profile is along the same lines, hitting notes of honey, straw, wheat, yeast, and bread. Nice sweetness mixed with a light yeast and rye spice. Mouth feel is medium-thick with an effervescent foaming action. Very filling. Overall, very good.

Pours a hazy golden color with a medium top of white head that dissolves in a quick pace. Aroma is of malts, bread, caramel, apples, pears and spices.
The taste is sweet and fruity at the start with malty notes of caramel in the back. It then gets notes of spices and herbs in the flavour and then It finish of with a quite strong bitterness. The aftertaste has a decent lenght, but I would like more balance in all the flavours. The mouthfeel is quite smooth consider the high abv. Medium carbonation with medium body.
All in all is a good and solid triple, but not the most exiting one out there.

A: Poured from the 330mL bottle. The beer is a cloudy pure orange color with lots of sediment floating around inside. The head was foamy, 3 fingers, off white and stuck around a little while.

S: Citrus rind, brown sugar, lots of yeast. Green apple and pineapple make an appearance as well as a balancing ready character. This hits all the notes, aroma-wise.

T: Malty with lots of bread and some caramel, then a lot of sugar. Finish is bitter and boozy with a light citrus-rind hop note and then a lot of rummy alcohol. Fruity yeast on second glance. Kind of off-balance. Has all the characteristics of a balanced flavor but it doesn't quite come together as well as some others in the style and strength.

F: Smooth with a very drying finish.

Overall: This one wasn't bad but I wouldn't pick it up again. There are too many other good triples out there to try. This one had all the right characteristics but didn't come together somehow.

Darker shade or orange-gold color with white cap.

Aroma of bready malt and golden raisins with a distinctive hit of sharp hops.

Flavor is interesting and a bit puzzling. At first there's the rich, deep flavor of rich malt leaning toward caramel then just as the ripe fruit emerges we hit a hop wall of decided bitterness. At 10% ABV there's a lot in there and it's as if someone decided to toss in an extra bushel or so of hops just to make sure with the result being an off balance in favor of the hops. I can only guess which hop variety but at this level of use perhaps that doesn't matter. A complex brew that mostly works but the hop bitterness is like someone put too much cayenne pepper in the gumbo. The flavors compete rather than complement.

Full texture with balancing carbonation.

Not your typical Trippel. It is a complex brew that's well made but I wonder if it wouldn't be more palatable if both the ABV and IBU were cut back considerably.

Light amber color. Very cloudy. Lasting but small head. A few streaks for lace.

Strong, sweet caramel malt nose.

The flavor starts like the smell but there is a hop presence that is significant to bring balance. Rich body as expected with a muted carbonation. The alcohol warmth peaks during the swallow. Malt leaning aftertaste.
