Gueuze-a-palooza 10/8/11; poured into an E&J Cask & Cream glass
A) Dense and cloudy; golden hued with apple juice highlights. Thin head with wispy retention. Some bubbles around the inside. Specks of lace.
S) Pretty nice aroma. Sharp funk and mustiness. Decent cheesy presence. Funk tones of cobwebs, basement, water-logged swamp wood and abandoned barn. Mostly funk notes; not really much for fruit. A bit grassy and earthy.
T) Kicks upfront with a good amount of tartness and sourness. It's equally rounded out by an almost toasty funkiness that bleeds into a sharp, musty funk stampede. Wood and earth.
M) Medium-light feel. It's a good feel. Moderate carbonation matches the tartness of the beer. Finishes tart and funky. It's a very good feel.
D) Exceptional balance and boasting great flavor. In contention for my favorite. Recommended.

12.7 oz bottle poured into a tulip.
Appearance: Pours a dense gold with a one-inch eggshell head that sticks around for a few minutes. Lacing minimal. Heavy carbonation.
Aroma: Now this is funky. The beer has a powerful aroma of lemons and funk. You can definitely understand why people say this style has a "barnyard" smell.
Taste: How much tart can you take? This is a sour beer for people who love sour beers. It tastes like lemons, citrus and overpowering sourness. It's a sipper for me - one to savor and enjoy. It also has some nice vinous quality to it.
Mouthfeel: This beer has a nice, light body. Almost summery in depth.
Overall: Someone unfamiliar with lambics will find this too abrasive - like if someone poured paint thinner into a very tart shandy. But lambic fans will love it - it hits all the notes, brings a bomb of sour flavor, and comes in that cool bottle.
