750ml green bottle, caged and corked, no dates and no pictures.

Poured a hazed orange/straw color with almost no head, even after an agressive pour.

The smell was disconcerting. Spanish olives, serious barnyard funk- almost to the point of stench, tart persimmon, and something like dung.

Medium light body and a flat feel. Tartness comes at the front, followed by a medicine taste, wood, and strange plastic and metallic notes in the finish and burps.

The beer was a serious let down. The bottle had no pictures of strawberries-- I thought I was getting a non-fruit lambic! If I hadn't had quite a few examples from the lambic/gueuze style I might have sworn off the style after trying this! I'm all for funkiness, but this beer went way past anything enjoyable for me.

12 7oz bottle into a goblet. 2015 release, so 8 years old.

Glowing amber/orange body. The few bubbles disappear quickly, becomes a still beer. Aroma of strawberries and a touch of funk. Strawberries are the dominant flavor. Sour and tart, a little thin.

Opaque orange body, cream colored bubble collar. Smell and taste are clones: actually a really nice strawberry character through and through, some lacto and brett with bright oak. Thought the nose carried the funk more. But depth is so limited, especially in the feel where it is sour and acidic, light pungency some counter, too wet.

$10.99/375ml bottle. Bottled 2014. Poured with no head; amber color. Nose was full-on strawberry jam. Amazing. Taste was the same with very nice lambic acidity balance. This was my first taste of Oudbeitje and I was incredibly impressed. I will be buying more.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing this bottle. 2008? Bottle

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a chill haze golden hue with no real head or wisps.

S - Aromas of plastic and strawberry chapstick, flashes of burnt rubber and unhappy microbes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with more big jammy red berries, good tart acidity and big cereal grains. The strawberry flashes out to a more waxy element.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, crisp, little flemmy.

O - Overall this was a rather lackluster beer with flashes of berries.

Sweet and very sour, you've got a lot of strawberry jam notes on the nose.

Completely still, it's quite thick for a lambic.

Nice stuff, the natural sweetness balances the big acidity

Pours a cloudy, deep, dark golden amber coloration with no head whatsoever. Smell is dominated by white vinegar, overripe, mouldy strawberry and strong blue cheese funk, with hints of doughy malt and estery fruit notes as well. Taste follows the nose, with the rotten strawberry, blue cheese funk and especially white vinegar presence, that turns quite acidic in the aftertaste, being quite overpowering. There are also some notes of hay and estery fruit/spice, like green apple and clove there, as well as lighter citrus and oak. Finishes with a strong acidity and some funk and vinegar burn lingering in the aftertaste. Completely flat mouthfeel with a medium body and no carbonation.

This is just a poorly balanced and quite possibly spoiled mess, to be honest, with the strong, acidic white vinegar and blue cheese funk presence overpowering any other flavors. The total lack carbonation does not help at all here, really making this more reminiscent of vinegar than a lambic. I don't think I can finish this, actually, quite poor.

L- A bit lifeless with just a few bubbles hugging the sides. Some slight carbonation deeper in the glass, a lot of yeasty floaters. The color is slight brown with a bit of strawberry red. Murky for sure.
S- There's a typical Lambic sour aroma with a sweet funky brett-like quality that follows it. Not too bad. Slight aroma of strawberry is there for sure.
T- Ehh.. This beer tastes a little spoiled. I get that it's a Belgian Lambic, but it just doesn't taste very palatable. Sour and funky off the bat with maybe a slight hint of strawberries, and definitely a good amount of apple cider vinegar. That is just about all I taste that isn't off putting. The funk that I want is less lambic and more strong paint and chemical. I also get a weird metallic flavor and an unpleasant and unwanted burn at the back of my throat as well. Too acidic with nothing to offer other than a few silver linings and a spoiled quality that just isn't wanted.
F- Watery.
O- A botched beer to say the least. The funk seems to be the only redeeming quality. Couldn't finish it at all. A waste of money to me. They're trying too hard to make it weird and forgot to make it enjoyable in any way honestly.
