What an incredible beer! This pours with a large fluffy head that settles to a creaminess only matched by Guinness! The beer itself is a hazy light chestnut (think hazy Samuel Smith Nut Brown). Very attractive.
The smell is quite complex with sweet malts, and spicy phenols with a green peppercorn quality, green banana, and figs. Quite pleasing.
The taste matches the smell with the malty sweetness predominating along with a little pepper and ripe banana and figs. It finishes with only a touch of dryness. I guess this is an Abbey-style Strong Dark Ale.
Mouthfeel is creamy with no bite. Its only drawback is a slight thinness I detect. Otherwise quite enjoyable.
Drinkability is very high. A complex beer I won't tire of any time soon!
