(2.003) Beautiful orange-brown beer with a creamy solid head that sticks around quite a while, leaving quite a bit of lace.
The nose reveals layers of herb and spice notes along with big sweet malt sugars, caramel is big, yeast abounds and there is a slight buttery/butterscotch note that unifies everything.
The taste follows the aroma closely, however, the sweetness makes it difficult to notice all the spice/herbal complexity. That's where a complimentary dish comes into play. This beer was simply amazing with a spicy brined lamb shoulder. Each enhanced the other. I may not have noticed the greatness of this beer without the meal. Yeast spices mix perfectly with hop spices.
This is a medium bodied beer and seemed just at its peak for my tastes.
