Haven't reviewed a brew in a while so here we go...

Poured from a caged and cork green bottle (24oz) into a popperings snifter glass. Nice label and says it was brewed with honey and spiced with coriander and curacao. Pours a hazy straw color with a really nice pillowy head. Lively and spritzy like carbonation props up the head for a long time. Nice looking brew.

Smell is all floral but not in a hoppy way. Similar to fresh cut flowers. Bringing my nose in closer I can smell more of the farmhouse characterstics that make Dupont famous - earthy, spicy and some hay funk. Belgain yeast strain is also notable in the nose - very complex with some clover honey coming through at the end.

Taste - Belgian peppery yeast and farmhouse funk. Not quite sour but similar to eating aged manchego (which would go really well with this brew). Coriander follows quickly and gives it a sharp bite - slightly overpowering but nothing too bad. The honey is vague, but noticable - clearly dominated by the yeast profile in my opinion. Belgains pilsner malts round out the brew giving it a great taste profile.

Mouthfeel is bone dry, but not thin, and a spritzy carbonation. Spot on IMHO.

Drinkability is FANTASTIC as a summer refreshing brew. Even in December this brew goes down quickly! So quickly in fact that the 8% ABV creeps up and surprises at the end.

Definitely a solid offerign from Dupont.

Pours golden but slightly hazy. This white head with minimal lacing.

Definitely alcohol forwards with hints of citrus. Earthy and musty.

Bready, malty and grassy. Initially a bit bitter/tart followed by honey sweetness. The alcohol is only present in the finish.

Slightly heavy and a bit syrupy. Nice acidity paired well with the carbonation.

Definitely an interesting brew although I'm not sure I would rush out to try it again.

A: Glowing hazy golden body topped with a massive creamy white head. Tons of lacing persists on the glass.

S: Potent clove and peppery phenolics. Borderline medicinal in a positive way. A bit of overripe banana.

T: Sweet honey, more yeasty clove, and floral hops. Slight citrus with a moderately bitter finish.

M: Airy mouthfeel with spritzy carbonation. Dry finish.

O: Easy drinking and refreshing. No trace of the ABV. Very balanced but not exceptional in any aspect. Still glad I grabbed this one.

Poured from a 750ml into a New Belgium Goblet at about 45F.

Very nice and super earthy "organic" saison from the masters of the style. Lovely glowing orange with a very creamy and resilient head. Plenty of biscuity malt , honey sweetness, citrus esters and barnyard phunk on the nose. Taste is similar: grassy / herbal hops, balanced by tangerine / nectarine citrus, light dry maltiness and a very earthy , organic Brett funk. The honey serves as kind of an integrator to round it all out and tie it together. Probably a little bit heavier bodied and less peppery of a finish than a classic Dupont Saison, but very nice. 8% is undetectable and you could easily get in trouble with this one. I could session the hell out of this beer.

Another Belgian Classique.
