3/4 Liter bottle received from dnrobert24 and 2MBBIF.

I get a loud pop and a healthy amount of carbonation from the cork upon opening. Cork has 2005 on it as the bottling year.

Poured in to my Duvel Tulip I get a peachy golden colored beer with a trace of chill hazing. Powerful and voluminous white head almost is too much for my glass. Absolutely perfect looks for a Saison.

Smell is strong almost like a lovely flowers and spices perfume. Strong flowers combine with an intense spicy aroma. Strong coriander and black pepper aroma accents a very floral Saison.

Taste is quite dry and very floral and spicy that is my first impression. Hops are not at all hidden here and show themselves as a stiff drying bitterness in the aftertaste. Strongly warming in the chest but not the mouth, you will not be drinking two bottles of this by yourself. Flavor is all flowers and hay with coriander and black pepper. A very well executed beer that nails the style perfectly.

Mouthfeel is full crisp and drying, only thing left behind is a taste of flowers.

I always worry when I give a beer very high marks as to whether my sense of taste might be out of whack but not with this one. Pretty much a perfect Saison, throw away all that champagne and serve this for special occasions. Only possible flaw here is that the alcohol level won't let you drink a lot of it at once.

A: Lemon yellow and cloudy with lots of yeast particles floating within. Soda like carbonation, highly carbonated. It sports a 5 finger white head with a lemony tinge and small and large bubbles. Random chunky lacing.

S: Funky Belgian yeasts reminiscent of Saison Dupont, lemon rind, herbs like sage, snow, white sugar, slight cabbage or skunk, bitterness, light floral, candied lemon.

T: Lemon candy, lemon rind, medium sweetness, a hit of white lemon pith and rind in the taste of bitterness, bitter herbs, I believe there is brettanomycies in this. I tasted it in the Bruery’s and Boulevard’s brews only they tend to oversweeten those brews in my opinion. This is much dryer and pleasant as well as original. Light sourness. The alcohol is well covered. Light fruitiness.

M: Medium thick, slighty gelatinous and syrupy, medium low carbonation. Dry finish.

O: An amazing classic that I can see has set a standard for high octane saisons. Much prefer it to the others I’ve tried. Drank at Turkey Creek with my father in law June 29, 2014.

From a bomber to a tulip.

A - Hazy deep gold with a fluffy, pillowy, head that won't quit. Excellent lace on the glass.

S - Skunk as soon as the bottle was opened. Dissipated quickly and stayed well in the background afterwards. Bready, toasty malt, spicy notes from hops and/or yeast. Very rustic.

T - Very complex. Toasty malt, nondescript fruity notes from yeast. Significant bitterness that helps dry the beer out. Rustic without being overly "funky". Dry, bitter, spicy finish.

M - Explosive carbonation fills the mouth. Medium body with a dry, bitter finish. Very low alcohol warmth; well-hidden for the 9.5% ABV.

O - Wow. Take the initial skunk aroma away and this is a world class beer. I will seek this out again in the hops of a fresher bottle. Love the style.
