A - Pours a hazy, coppery gold color. For some reason I'm a sucker for unfiltered beers. HUGE white frothy head! Billowed up to the top of the snifter even after a "perfect" pour. Nice thick lacing on the glass as the head slowly dissipates.
S - Citrusy, fruity, spicy. So many aromas going on here! Hints of toasted bread, and... corn on the cob? That may seem a strange descriptor, but being and Iowa boy, that's a familiar smell to me. Small hints of toffee as well.
T - Bright orange-flavored citrus up front. Hints of darker malt follow through the middle. There is a lemony hop bitterness that sticks to the sides and back of the tongue toward the finish. Not quite as interesting or complex as the smell, but still good.
M - As I could see from the 4 fingers of head that formed during the pour, this is a very well carbonated beer. Not that it is the most vital characteristic of a beer, but specifically regarding a summer variety like the saison, good carbonation accentuates the flavors and quenching freshness very well. Medium body with a somewhat dry finish.
