Classic saison that arrived a pale straw with ample white head. Aroma was a bit subdued but yeasty esters and citrus were notable along with some herbs and peanut butter sweet malt. In the mouth, beer was a heady mix of orange spice tea, lemon, clove, white pepper, herbal perfume, apple, and cashew brittle, all integrated well with a dry bitter finish. Did not notice the funk that some describe. Pleasing combination of malt and spice with a dryness that evokes champagne and a surprising nuttiness.

750ml bottle. This is my first saison/farmhouse ale. I must admit that this is quite crisp and, although dry, remarkably refreshing. Well structured and strong-tasting for a meager 6.5% ABV.

Appearance - Not a huge amount of carbonation ... but head does stay. Lacing is tough, but fluid. Deep, murky yellow color.

Smell - A bit of Empire apple, green tea cookies, and kasha. Mostly smells like Hennepin.

Taste - Hoppy and stringent. Mildly dry with a musty yeast and a touch of sweetness on the back end.

Finish - Sharp dryness, but smooth and really rewarding.

bottle poured into a wine glass with a late breakfast.

Hazy cider-like beer with a brilliant white head.

earthy and dry smelling, spicy, coriander/clove. Champagne grapes.

very mellow bittering, mellow malt as well that never becomes more present, even with temperature. Apples, alcohol and the yeast really is nice. Very dry Champagne-like yeast. Bouquet is mild compared to many belgians.

feels great on the tongue. A bit thin but that suits this dry brew well.

yes, they are drinkable

Poured from a bottle into a Tulip glass.

The beer pours a golden color with a massive head indicating a good bit of carbonation. The smell of citrisy orange and lemons and a Belgian yeastiness showing many ripe fruits. Taste is good. It reminds me Duvel, but it has an "unfinished" quality about it. Fruity sweetness, but a very distinct tart kick as well. Mouthfeel is also good.. Lots of bubbles, but at the same time very smooth. Drinkability is average.

Saison, one of my least favorite styles from Belgium. Still, Saison duPont on the shelf and I'd never had it before so I'll give it a shot.

Pours a honey gold with a marshmallowy, meringue-like head of cream. Nice lacing as it trails down the glass.

spicey with subtle citrus, the yeast charcter is present but not overly prominent. The beer is a little too cold to be sure at this point.

Very crisp, very clean taste. Again, sbutle yeast character. I little tart, almost sour? Not sure if its acid I taste or if its the play off the high degree of carbonation...speaking of which...

this beer is highly carbonated and spunky in the glass. It is very light bodied but not watery. As the hallmark saison, this is the body against which all others should be measured.

Very nice overall. Again, not my fav. style, but given the givens....

375ml bottle purchased from Market of Choice, Coburg Rd, Eugene, OR. Pours a cloudy unfiltered yellow, much like a hefeweizen. Thick creamy white head that settles fairly quickly to a foam on the surface that stays around.... Smellwise, it has a very lambic quality to it. Tastes quite nice, a bit grapefruity, slightly pungent, but still preety good. Mouthfeel is sort of fizzy. Swallow a drink of it and you feel a fizz moving to back of the throat slowly evaporating as you swallow. Altogether not too bad of a beer, i'm sure it's very typical of the style, but i'm not sure if i'd try this again or not.

A: Pours a hazy yellow color with huge foamy white head. Slight lacing down the glass
S: Smell is peppery, slight honey smell as well as alcohol. Also has a slight skunky scent to it but not in a bad way.
T: Fruity up front with a dry aftertaste. You can taste alchohol here as well
M: Medium bodied, pretty easy drinking.
D: I liked this one, good to share bottle with somebody cause I dont think I could do one alone. Thanks to gclarkage for this bottle.

Pours a nice straw color. Has a decent, lasting head, and tons of lacing. A slight acidic smell, some spices in the nose. Tastes bright in the mouth, with a lingering tartness. I think I finally understand what people mean when they talk about the "horse blanket" smell of some belgian beers. I like some belgians, and hate others. This is one that I could drink for a night.

A - pours a golden yellow with a massive head. Nothing about its appearance made me excited to drink it.

S - Beautiful nose - a lot of sweet pears, tart apples and a lot of earth

T - starts off really sweet with a very tart apples, almost bitterly tart. This fades to some earth/dirt, then acidic orange peel and a little bit of a metallic taste lingers on the finish. Not a bad little saison.

M - Nice body, but a little watery. This also leaves a very dry finish.

D - this is a very good saison. Nice and fruity and earthy that leaves a dry finish, leaving you wanting more. I really enjoyed this classic for the style and will seek it out in the future.

Been drinking a lot of Saisons lately.

A: Massive, soapy, bright white head tops this dull yellow brew. Bubbles continuously rise assisting in the heads strong retention and thick ample lacing.

S: Fair amount of spice, honey, floral notes, but very little funk. I like my Saisons funky.

T: Similar to the smell, quite bold in the flavor department. Like the smell indicated, very little funk.

M: Extremely high carbonated medium bodied brew.

O: I enjoyed the brew, but don't think I will buy again soon. Missed the funk too much!

Appearance is golden in color with a thick head. Smell has an deep earthiness to it with spice and citrus. Taste is earthy, light with a big hit of carbonation with a bitter saline aftertaste, (reminding me of a club soda). mouthfeel is light and dry, not what I really expected, but still a good experience.

A very light straw colored brew with a massive, never-dying white head on top. The glass is covered in sticky sheets of lace as you go through it. Yeasty aroma with citrus hints and fruity sweetness. It also has some pale malts in there.

A very crisp brew for the summer. Citrus notes make it refreshing, and the tingly carbonation is great, but it is at times overpowering. The flavor is not at all that impressive. It has a nice pale grainy character with lots of yeast flavor. The mouthfeel and drinkability are the real winners in this brew.

12.7oz bottle, Boulevard tulip, 2010 on the cork.

Hugely foamy, with a meringue head that took up most of the glass. The beer is hazed nearly to opacity and the color is rich yellow, like sunshine. It is yellow, not orange tinted.

Soft chalky, fruity yeast. The overall impression is light grassiness and pilsener malt; a very fresh, pure beer smell.

Very subtle flavors of the same light chalky, fruity yeast. Pilsener and Belgian light malts with a dry finish. Grassy, slightly fragrant hops and pear or apple.

The mouthfeel is saved from wateriness by spritzing carbonation. The thinness isn't justified by dryness.

I can see how it's currently the seventh ranked Saison on Beeradvocate. It's subtle, crisp, and would be even more of a joy on a hot day.

This beer presented a hazy golden color with a thick dense head fed by champagne bubbles. Frothy, snowy lace left on the glass. An aroma of malty roasted grains balanced by fruit, hints of apples. The smell of this beer reminds me of a wonderful brewing process. Medium malt character up front with a mild hop finish. A distinct sourness comes late (after a few minutes. Fresh, light mouth feel, very drinkable.
