Poured from a caged and corked 750 mL bottle into a tulip.
Appearance - dirty apple juice; scattered carbonation and a snow globe of sediment! Thick, bubbly white head; lacing is splendid!
Smell - I get a mix of banana bread, citrus fruit and bubble gum!
Taste - ripe dark fruit, banana, citrus fruit and bubble gum!
Feel - fairly light, but enough booze present to toughen it up. Nicely carbonated, some bitterness on the finish and delightfully refreshing!
Overall - fantastic brew that is a treat for anyone who enjoys a saison!

Dupont' saison is certainly a classic of the style, though a bit focused on darker/richer/heavier malt contributions than others in the style. Still, it has quite pleasant hop and malt character, along with some unique fruit esters and grassy/hay-like components. If focused, there are many different flavors with each sip of this beer. Certainly one to revisit at any time of the year, especially at a pleasant price for being an import.

Pours a voluminous (>4cm) tall head of eggshell-white foam with excellent retention of several minutes. The head settles to a thin (0.2cm) cap atop the body of the beer, residing for the entirety of the drinking session. Lacing is quite good, with patterns and bands adorning the entirety of the inner glass. Beer is a medium-dark orange color with a brownish hue, light bringing out brighter yellowish-orange hues. Carbonation is visible through the hazy (60-70% opaque) body, streaming up from the center of the glass.

Aroma is of heavy yeast, basement must, farmhouse hay, wet grains, and lightly caramelized malt sugars. Smells are good, somewhat "dark" with yeast and malt, less focused on brighter, fruitier elements, relative to others I've had recently.

Front of palate is sweet from pale malts with a slight caramelized malt sugar character, along with notable saison yeast and a bit of mealy apple, pear, and orange fruit flavors. Mid-palate is of saison yeast, musty farmhouse-stored hay, wet grains, a bit of mealy apple and pear flavor, slight honey, and mild hop bitterness. Back of palate finds heavier malt presence, particularly with a slight caramel and honey edge, heavy yeast presence, and mild-to-moderate hop bitterness. Aftertaste is of saison yeast, slight pepperiness, easily noticeable yet fairly mild hop bitterness that also lends a slight grapefruit/orange rind, and super mild grain flavors.

Beer is medium to medium-light in body, with high levels of carbonation that manager to never feel fizzy, but immediately produce a foamy, rich mouthfeel with each sip. Closes dry, with little stickiness lingering on the palate.

This is one delicious and easy-drinking beer. Lots going on, and not just a session drinker. I could drink this all summer long and not feel I'm just consuming malt, yeast, and hops. Just the right amount of bitterness and lots of flavor, flowers and fruits. This is one of my favorite Saison's. Excellent.

750 ml green bottle, when I popped the cork the foam came out like champagne, ran off for a good 3 minutes, praying there would actually be beer to taste afterward.

A - Tons of white bubbles, highly carbonated. Yellow golden color and cloudy, once the bubbles go almost no lacing.

S - Earthy smell, you make out the grains in the background. Barely detect any hops.

T - Phenolic, almost a raw grain flavor, ends slightly tart. A slight aftertaste of yeast.

M- Smooth, tart and carbonated. Very interesting.

Overall - A good introduction into this style, refreshing summer drink.
