Pitch black, seems opaque. Can hold it right up to a light source in snifter and get none shining through. A little more translucent and brown around the edges as it goes down. Head is fine and creamy and tannish brown. Forms film, but otherwise not the greatest retention. Nice legs, but don't last. Strongest aroma is black olives. There's roasty and sweet stout character here if you care to look for it, but not much for distinct chocolate or cocoa. Olive note is still strong in flavor, but is nicely balanced by very dark chocolate flavor. It's about as sweet as nose would indicate, favoring roast, olive, cocoa, coffee, and smokey tang. Full bodied but on the lighter side of it. Chock full of fine, mellow, tingly carbonation. Astringent, semi-dry.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Pours dark brown to black, translucent in the light with a reddish brown hue. Light to moderate head, about 1/2" thick, of light brown 'sea foam' bubble consistency. Very light lacing.

Aromas are a complex mix of malts with coffee and chocolate notes foremost on the nose and some earthy notes beyond. Quite pleasant.

The initial rush is definitely a malty chocolate flood over the tongue but not as heavy as you might think for a stout. I wouldn't call this on thin but it isn't as chewy as I like 'em. The texture is relatively creamy with a very light and well tamed carbonation. As you roll it around with your tongue, you can really appreciate the malty multitudes. The finish is rather quick but there is a nice long linger of bitter chocolate that clings to the back of the throat before clearing. Beauty.

I found this brew to be very enjoyable and rather drinkable. There is a multitude of richness in the flavor profile without going overboard. It's still relatively balanced but leans toward the sweet by just a bit. Hops clearly seem to be there but do not play an incredibly noticeable part in the taste. Definitely worth checking out and I would have it again anytime.

Pours black with deep red highlights. It has a fluffy brown head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

Its aroma is roasted chocolate and cream.

The flavor is chocolate - kind of sweet, yet roasted and kind of chalky. There is a little raisiney fruitiness and some smokiness (almost like cigarettes). It is pretty dry and has a light bitter finish. Medium bodied, a little watery.

Overall, a pretty good chocolate stout.

First beer that I had from Fort Collins and I thought it lacked flavor, the taste was bitter and it was over carbonated

Looks good. Smells hoppy. Tastes Hoppy. Very little sweetness and even less chocolate. While the beer was not too bad, its not what I expect from this style. I wanted a desert beer for turkey day, this doesn't cut it. Fiancee is bringing me Sam Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout n I'll be happy and thankful.

12 ouncer w/o freshnes information. Pours dark and stoutlike, with just a thin dark tan head and leaving just a scant hint of lacing, above a thin tiny bubble film. Dusty dark chocolate nose, dark malts and more dark chocolate up front. Respectable stout, quite dry in the finish, with some lingering chocolate sweetness. Not bad, worth a try for stout/dark beer lovers

Appearance:1/4 inch head, black in color

Smell: burnt malt, and dark chocolate

Taste: dark chocolate and burnt malt. It follows the nose but the flavor is not as strong.

Mouthfeel: dry, medium body, bittersweet, smooth, no carbonation

Drinkability: A very average chocolate stout in every way. You can taste the chocolate and malt, but is far from complex. Nothing jumps out unlike other chocolate stouts I have had before. I will not be looking for this again.

Thanks to swalden28 for sharing this bottle.

This is my first beer from this brewery. The beer pours a dark brown color with red highlights and a white head. The aroma is pretty basic with chocolate and toffee. The flavor is chocolate with a lot of earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
