This was a pleasant surprise altogether.

Solidly dark brown with good lacing.

Chocolate with a smokeyness and oaky flavors.
Backed up with good bitterness and some malt.

The best feature is the full creamy mouthfeel.

Definitely worth checking out. (251 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Pours dark brown to black, translucent in the light with a reddish brown hue. Light to moderate head, about 1/2" thick, of light brown 'sea foam' bubble consistency. Very light lacing.

Aromas are a complex mix of malts with coffee and chocolate notes foremost on the nose and some earthy notes beyond. Quite pleasant.

The initial rush is definitely a malty chocolate flood over the tongue but not as heavy as you might think for a stout. I wouldn't call this on thin but it isn't as chewy as I like 'em. The texture is relatively creamy with a very light and well tamed carbonation. As you roll it around with your tongue, you can really appreciate the malty multitudes. The finish is rather quick but there is a nice long linger of bitter chocolate that clings to the back of the throat before clearing. Beauty.

I found this brew to be very enjoyable and rather drinkable. There is a multitude of richness in the flavor profile without going overboard. It's still relatively balanced but leans toward the sweet by just a bit. Hops clearly seem to be there but do not play an incredibly noticeable part in the taste. Definitely worth checking out and I would have it again anytime. (1,232 characters)

Pours black with deep red highlights. It has a fluffy brown head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

Its aroma is roasted chocolate and cream.

The flavor is chocolate - kind of sweet, yet roasted and kind of chalky. There is a little raisiney fruitiness and some smokiness (almost like cigarettes). It is pretty dry and has a light bitter finish. Medium bodied, a little watery.

Overall, a pretty good chocolate stout. (433 characters)

First beer that I had from Fort Collins and I thought it lacked flavor, the taste was bitter and it was over carbonated (119 characters)

Looks good. Smells hoppy. Tastes Hoppy. Very little sweetness and even less chocolate. While the beer was not too bad, its not what I expect from this style. I wanted a desert beer for turkey day, this doesn't cut it. Fiancee is bringing me Sam Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout n I'll be happy and thankful. (306 characters)

12 ouncer w/o freshnes information. Pours dark and stoutlike, with just a thin dark tan head and leaving just a scant hint of lacing, above a thin tiny bubble film. Dusty dark chocolate nose, dark malts and more dark chocolate up front. Respectable stout, quite dry in the finish, with some lingering chocolate sweetness. Not bad, worth a try for stout/dark beer lovers (369 characters)

Appearance:1/4 inch head, black in color

Smell: burnt malt, and dark chocolate

Taste: dark chocolate and burnt malt. It follows the nose but the flavor is not as strong.

Mouthfeel: dry, medium body, bittersweet, smooth, no carbonation

Drinkability: A very average chocolate stout in every way. You can taste the chocolate and malt, but is far from complex. Nothing jumps out unlike other chocolate stouts I have had before. I will not be looking for this again. (465 characters)

Thanks to swalden28 for sharing this bottle.

This is my first beer from this brewery. The beer pours a dark brown color with red highlights and a white head. The aroma is pretty basic with chocolate and toffee. The flavor is chocolate with a lot of earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. (303 characters)

12oz brown bottle sevred into a nonic glass.

Opaque, black with brownish highlights. 1" creamy tan head dissapated quickly into a thin coat of foam.

Clean roasty aroma with dusty chocolate. Earthy/mineral with subtle nutty carmelled notes.

Clean taste becoming lightly roasty with bittersweet chocolate.Woody, earthy with good balance has an easy pleasing bitterness.

Light to medium bodied,a touch of grainyness. Very smooth,pleasing/enjoyable has a very good aftertaste, makes me want another. Not a great stout, but not a bad one either. worth a try. (553 characters)

A: dark brown, ½” foamy tan small bubbled head, intricate lacing.
S: chocolarte, dark malts and sweet malt, no hop
T: coffee, caramel are more predominant than chocolate. Chocolate flavors are more dark bitter than sweet chocolate. Aftertaste is chocolate and a slight sweetness.
F: Mouthfeel, creamy, smooth, fine carbonation, medium but very soft fine bubbles.
O: The beer is easy to drink with a nice texture but nothing really stands out. (449 characters)
