A: Pours deep brown with a tan head. Not quite black though, not by any means. As the head settles in its maybe slightly darker than tan, and made up of mostly small, tightly packed bubbles. The beer is much to opaque to see through. Head retention is lacking, though lacing is alright.
S: Chocolate and roasted grain are the obvious aromas, but there is a not-indistinct hop aroma as well, maybe too much for the style. I'm not sure if it's the blend of aromas or something off, but I'm not really digging the smell here, though it isn't totally off putting.
T: While it's a better blend than the smell, the taste still is not very attractive to me. It's more roast than chocolate, there's really no perceptible sweetness here, and that roast even borders on burnt plastic the more I drink.
M: Well onto the thin side, but not too far out of the norm.
D: For a huge fan of roast and coffee, doable, but not as attractive to the general public as a Chocolate Stout should be.
