Pours dark black with a thin lace of head. Has bourbon aromas which aren't very strong for 8.5% ABV. Flavor is masked by the extreme bitterness. Bitterness sticks around for awhile and almost seems artificial. In the end it's quite flavorless, masking bitterness, and no discernible chocolate taste to it. Not recommended.

It's a decent enough stout, and not too sweet which is a good thing. But if your going to call it Double Chocolate Stout, I expect at least a little chocolate in the flavor profile. Again, not bad, but I won't need to revisit this one again.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char, light raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark, roast, and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char, light raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of roast/coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roast, caramel, toffee, toast, nuttiness, light char/raisin, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice robustness and complexity of dark, roast, and bready malt flavors; with a nice malt bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark, roast, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
