Pours an opaque black body beneath the thin tan head which caps lively bubbles of carbonation and disappears quickly to leave only faint lacing.
Aromas of semi sweet milk chocolate float from the glass, as well as some faint earthy hops.
The flavor consists of milk chocolate malts and bitter roasted coffee as it warms. There are also faint woody notes or earthy hops.
This beer is fuller in body and almost chewy with medium carbonation and a bitter finish.
More of an American Double with hints of chocolate than a traditional chocolate stout but still pretty tasty.

i liked this stout. Of course, the fact that it was on-tap made a world of difference, as I have found true with most beer tastings. The appearance was dark, it went down smoothly with no bitter aftertaste, and was thoroughly enjoyable. I could detect a slight hint of chocolate, but not enough to say it was a "chocolaty" beer. That 's a good thing; I dislike beers that have flavorings and spices added to them, often to disguise the otherwise uninteresting flavor of the underlying brew. i will seek this one out again, but prefer it on-tap.

A- black, thick frothy mocha colored head, good lacing on the glass..
S- roasted malts, cocoa powder, some wood notes
T- taste follows the nose, roasted malts impart flavors of acidic light roast coffee, burnt sweet molasses. cocoa is there but not in anyway I will call this a 'double chocolate'.. it is more of coffee malt taste
M- the best part of this beer.. low carbonation..thick and creamy.. goes down silky smooth.. bittersweet aftertaste.. overall if this beer had more pronounced chocolate flavor as the label says (double chocolate).. I would prolly score this a perfect 5/5
