TEMP: Cellared @ approx 45 degrees
Pours a creamy 1 inch head atop some nice black liquid that gets ruby coloured around the edges when held up to the light.
Smells of chocolate and roasted coffee. Very enticing. Nice dark roasted malts.
Taste is very good, but also a bit of a letdown. The coffee flavor comes through to dominate the taste. The chocolate follows on the backend. In the middle is that roasted malt flavor with a slight (tiny) touch of hops. I expected the chocolate to be more dominant.
It is very smooth in the mouth. Not overpoweringly full, but by no means weak or watery. A little on the weak side for my tastes, as I like 'em big and bold. (Then again, there are times that subtlety is nice, also.)
I certainly could drink quite a few of these pretty easily, but, if I'm buying, there may be a few other bottles in my way before I get to this one again. (Not alot, but a few, to be certain.)
