poured into an imperial pint glass...
A - pitch black with very little evidence of a head; there is a very thin caramel colored layer of what should be a head, but other than that I'm staring at oil in a glass.
S - some bitter chocolate notes in the smell along with some sweetness. absolutely zero hops in the nose.
T - Really nice and not over-powering in any aspect. very evident as to why this is called a double chocolate stout as the chocolate is very obvious; however it';s not clear to me if it's due to a large addition of chocolate or malt. very well balanced.
M - A bit syrupy but that should be expected for this style of beer and it actually works well with these flavors. A nice lingering bitterness is on the tail end and hangs on for quite some time.
D - No problem finishing a glass of this and if it were the middle of winter would probably really enjoy a couple of pints..
Serving type: growler
