Thunderbolt Red Ale is a "German Style" with medium mouthfeel with a mellow malt tast with excellent balance of German hops. A definate choice for a session as would the Blue Eyed Moose IPA or Uptown Rye Brown Ale.

From the tap of Turoni's Forget Me Not Inn: Weinbach & Lloyd Expressway, Evansville,In. Thanks to the guys at The Winetree for putting me on to this neat little brewpub and the local craft beer.

I had this on tap at the Turoni's on Main Street.

A: It poured a dark, dark red color with maybe a tinge of translucence, but nothing to write home about. Darker in the middle than around the edges, and the head was almost non-existent.

S: not much... maybe a puff of yeast and a bit of birthday cake icing.

T: The taste was sort of blah, but still enjoyable nonetheless. I did get some candy sugar, and this was much more towards the malt side than the hoppy one. Sweet, but not too.

M: low carbonation, with a gooey candy sugar-esque consistency, and no lacing whatsoever.

O: It was what it was and nothing more: a solid red that appeals to the masses.

Absolutley fantastic for the style, exactly what a Red Ale should be. It tasted a lot like Arrogant Bastard, but just not as intense. That's not an insult, but just the truth, and in many cases probably a good thing. If I didn't have to drive so far after stopping at Turoni's, I would've checked out the other beers they had, considering how great this one was.
