P: 750ml bottle into a Dogfish Signature glass.
A: A nice amber color with a bubbly off white head. Lacing it good.
S: Piney, earthy hops with some bright sweet tropical fruit aromas, like ripe pineapple. A slight graininess with some alcohol with a heavy whiff.
T: Very fruity with a solid bitterness but not as much as I expect from an Imperial IPA. Citrus flavors from the hops, which doesn't come through as clearly on the nose. There's a great malt backbone to stand up to the intense hop flavors.
M: Medium body and carbonation. Flavors linger but the bitterness dies quickly.
O: I think this is another solid offering from DFH in their music/beer lineup. The beers in this series have all proven to be pretty fun and interesting and American Beauty fits in there nicely. Hop heads and others who are only after a hardcore Imperial IPA aren't going to be fans due to it's huge malt foundation but all of the pieces are here for a great beer regardless of what it's labeled. I'd happily get another bottle and share it with friends.
