Nice dark ruby color that the stronger IPAs tend to have. Smells inviting - sweet and not too obnoxiously hoppy.
The taste is getting toward the sweeter, syrupy side, much like the 120 min, but kind of a step down. I'm not knocked on my ass by the hop character, which is nice. It is seemingly well balanced (as well balanced as an imperial ipa can be) and smoothed out by the sweet malt flavors. Full bodied and mouth-filling.
The best way to catagorize Burton Baton is that its the perfect step between 90 min ipa and the 120 min ipa. I would be very interested to try the three of them in a row, one after another.
