Appearance: Reddish amber with a tihn, 1 cm white head. Carbonation appears to be at a minimum.
Smell: Delicate hops mixed in with strong alcohols and some earthy notes. A little hard to pick out much besides the volatiles, but there is a little nuttiness which comes out later.
Flavor: Strong bitterness backed up with a very solid malt backbone. The big alcohols dissolve into a robust syrupy finish centered around the bourbon aging. Hops are not overly prominent, peaking at the beginning and then moving into a more subtle role.
MF: Nice medium-big and a little syrupy at the finish as the sweetness crescendos. Not a whole lot of carbonation keep this one from being too acidic or abrasive on the mouth. A very good beer, which I wish I could have more often.
