served 12 oz bottle in my sam adams perfect pint glass
A-held up to a light, and it is a bronze, amber, orange, 1 inch frothy head this is slowly declining leaving a nice ring of lacing around it
S- very boozy, big sweet malt, piny and flowery hops, slight citrus
T-alcohol very noticeable which demand respects, sweet caramel/ biscuity malt and vanilla oak taste really comes through as the beer warms, large amount of malts mask flavoring hops but good amount of bittering hops still come through. Not a hop bomb. Man I love a balanced east coast DIPA. DFH beers don't attempt to hide the alcohol by any means. One of my favorite styles since i love malty yet hoppy beers.
M-creamy upfront from large amount of malt, finsihes drys from oak and hops
D- lil boozy, but I could probably drink 2 or 3
...still IMO best oak aged DIPA/IPA is Southern Tiers Oak Aged Unearthly...this one is in 2nd

A: Perfect clarity, light brown hue similar to maple syrup. Light tan head forms weakly and gradually reduces to the edges. Many loose bubbles.
S: Pungent, mostly pine and friendly warm wood.
T: Again, mostly pine, fading to reveal some grapefruit in the middle, and warm wood/caramel on the finish. Some sweetness is in there too. No hints of whiskey spice that might have been available in the wood. I really like this.
M: Light, a little astringent, but overall very easy drinking for 10%.
O: I'm surprised this worked. The hops are definitely restrained but still make up most of the character, while the wood reinforces any warm malt balance.
