Rich amber hue, good clarity. Pours a large, thick head, creamy and with pretty good retention.
Wonderful hop aroma, with a lot of grapefruit and pine character. Some malt sweetness sneaks through, maybe a bit of caramel.
Flavor starts with a nice caramel malt sweetness, with hop flavor and alcohol flavor hitting almost simultaneously midmouth. The alcohol tinged bitterness carries into the finish, but the transition is gradual and the finish isn't particularly bitter or dry.
MF - med-high body, low-medium carbonation. No astringency, and the alcohol warming while present isn't overpowering. Surprisingly gentle mouthfeel for such a beer.
Probably as drinkable as a 10% DIPA can be. An unexpectedly pleasant drinking experience, but not sure I'd want another one right now.
