American Double / Imperial IPA |  10.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
This oak-aged gentle giant has been gaining popularity over the past few years and is now available year-round.

For Burton Baton, we brew two "threads," or batches, of beer: an English-style old ale and an imperial IPA.

After fementating the beers separately in our stainless tanks, they're transferred and blended together in one of our large oak tanks. Burton Baton sits on the wood for about a month.

When enjoying the Burton Baton, you'll find an awesome blend of the citrus notes from Northwestern hops melding with woody, vanilla notes from the oak. The wood also tends to mellow the 10% ABV of Burton, so tread cautiously!

A-a bright amber color with a fingers worth of creamy head that sticks to the glass

S-citric hops, bready malt, caramel touch of oak and vanilla. Definitely gets sweeter as the beer warms.

T-the taste certainly has a fair amount of citrus hops, but the taste is predominately sweet with a nice bready quality to it. Sticky caramel, vanilla, and a bit of oak finish things off. For 10% the alcohol is very well hidden.

M-medium body, good carbonation, sticky mouthfeel

Overall I am not picking up much of the IPA elements, but it is still an excellent beer

A: nice amber color, cream colored head
-- Label is unassuming and if not for the dogsfish symbol, I likely would have miss it on the shelf.

S: Nice rich oaky malt smell with hops. Cannot smell the high alcohol content

T: Smooth, malty hops that is mellowed out hops. Cannot taste the alcohol even as the bottle warmed up.

M: Clean smooth finish

O: Nicely done, nothing specific stands out unique in comparison to the other barreled aged IPA's I have had but that does not mean much as I have yet to have one I do not like.
