Bottle dated 1/3/13, 2 months old.
A: Pours a clear ruby red. Good sized frothy tan head. Fades away slowly, leaving quite an island of foam. Decent spotty fluffy bits of lacing here and there.
S: Really nice grapefruit aroma with lots of caramel to sweeten it up. Hints of tropical fruit and resinous pine. Kinda had a sweetbread type of aroma.
T: Again, lots of caramel mixing in with lots of hops. Tropical fruit is stronger here with bunches of pine. I may have been mistaken on the grapefruit, not picking up any here. The caramel in this is really wonderful - it sets it apart. Again, a sort of a sweetbread flavor mixing in with all the caramel. Maybe even get some honey in here? Very nice and strong sweet malt backbone backing up the hoppiness. The sweetness runs out in the finish and you're left with just tropical fruit, pine and resin. Fairly bitter but not overpowering. Great flavors.
M: Medium bodied, slick, a bit oily especially in the finish. Mouthcoating hop oils.
O: This is one hell of a DIPA. It's very hoppy but not overpowering and is surprisingly balanced. The sweet caramel and honey flavors in this really sets it apart. Great compliment to the bitter hop flavors and serves to accentuate them rather than fight them. Very balanced and super drinkable DIPA. One of the best balanced all-around versions you can find.

Poured from a bottle into a mason jar at J&R Tacos in downtown Merced. Unfiltered honey-golden color, one-finger head with persistent lacing. Aroma is light roasted malt, and fragrant floral hops. Flavor, as you probably all know so well, is out-of-this-world amazing, malt, a little sweetness, a bit of apricots, a bit of pine, and delightful hops, well-balanced, and not at all mild. Mouthfeel is medium, not quite chewy. Overall this is the most amazing flabbergasting tasty IPA I have ever sampled. But what do I know? Try it, if you haven't!
