Heard very good things about this IPA...
When I ordered it I just said Dogfishead to my server (they only have one tap at my pub) and when it came back I was confused because I was exspecting another beer (they had changed the tap).
At first I thought I had been given a Sierra Nevada by mistake, but then realized that the beer I was drinking was much harsher with not as crisp a finish as the Sierra. It was not till later that I realized this was likely due to the extra ABV.
This on had a decent head. Taste is basically totally derived from the hops and alcohol. This was the first IPA in a long while to make me slightly wince as I took it down. The wincing stop as I got more of this brew into me but I can't help but think that this one is not balanced completely correctly. Not bad, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Bottled on 5/30/14. Tasted on 7/28/14
Appearance: Half-inch soapy head, nearly pure-white. The color is a transparent, golden-copper. Lacing initially holds a very nice level of retention, but fades fairly quickly. Still have some lace lingering towards the top of the glass after a long drink-down, though.
Smell: Sweet hop aroma followed by some caramel maltiness and hints of alcohol.
Taste: Hops hit you from the onset and stay with you until the end. It's a puckering bitterness. Alcohol warms your throat and nose towards the end. After taste is much more fruity than I would have expected.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth but thick with moderate to low carbonation. Dries the mouth.
Overall: A very solid Imperial IPA that I would recommend to any hop-head. Not particularly my favorite flavor profile for an Imperial IPA, however, I can still appreciated the quality. Would like to try on-tap, would buy a four-pack if I could share some with friends or family. I would give it 90-93 overall.

reddish and cloudy with a super thick retentive head lots of carbonation everywhere.
super balanced, and incredibly smooth, I expected it to be very hoppy . it is not .
sticky sweet mouth feel , very drinkable. I would recommend it to novice and experienced ipa partakers alike.
I have to admit I wasn't blown away by the intense flavors, but it was a joy to drink.
