American Double / Imperial IPA |  9.00% ABV

Availability: Year-round

Notes/Commercial Description:
Esquire Magazine calls our 90 Minute IPA "perhaps the best IPA in America." An imperial IPA best savored from a snifter, 90 Minute has a great malt backbone that stands up to the extreme hopping rate.

90 Minute IPA was the first beer we continuously hopped, allowing for a pungent -- but not crushing -- hop flavor.

Bottle poured in Tulip Shaped glass

Appearance: Hazy, dark amber, with a solid thick white head when poured aggressively.

Smell: Earthy, sweet, malty character with a slight hop spicy presence.

Taste: spicy up front with a citrusy medium. Peachy, a little bit of piney-ness, mango, Earthy, caramel, sweet barley. This is a very malty DIPA.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation with a bitter hoppy dry finish.

Overall: This is a fairly sweet DIPA, not an explosion of hops that I was expecting unlike Double Trouble and Ruination. It is fairly sweet, too sweet in my opinion from the barley and the malt. It is a great balanced beer and I would definitely have it again. It is very unique. I definitely want to try this on a blind taste.

12oz bottled 3/4/2014. Served in a DFH signature glass

Appearance: Pours a bright copper orange color with 1+ finger of a white creamy head. Decent retention and light spotty lacing. Body is relatively clear with medium amounts of visible carbonation.

Smell: Grapefruit like citrus, sweet caramel and toffee, pine, slight earthiness, touch of booziness.

Taste: Big malt sweetness balanced by hop bitterness in the finish. Flavors are more citrus and pine with lots of sweet and toasted bready malt character as well.

Mouthfeel: Medium/full bodied with a slightly sticky mouthfeel. Carbonation is medium.

Overall: Really good double IPA from Dogfish. This one is a classic for a reason.

I'm not a fan of IPAs and I've tried a lot of them, but this one is great. The balance is perfect it's not overly hoppy. Dogfish head hit a home run with this one and I think everyone should try it at least once it's well worth the money. It also doesn't leave that horrible bitter taste in your mouth when your done drinking it that most IPAs do.
