Purchased from Lone Hill Liquors.
A - The beer pours a beautiful copper. I'm getting about an inch of head with good lacing.
S - I'm getting a lot more caramel malts than hops which is quite the surprise, given most reviews of this beer. This is definitely not what I've come to expect from a DIPA.
T - The beer has an overwhelmingly sweet, almost syrupy, taste. The hops are not very apparent compared to the sweetness of the malt. The alcohol is very pronounced, although it is masked by the sweetness. This tastes more like a barley wine than a DIPA.
M - The mouthfeel is very syrupy. The alcohol taste is pronounced much like a tanic wine, which is weird for a beer.
D - Given many of the taste and aroma profiles, I think this beer takes a hit on drinkability. It's so sweet and alcoholic that it almost comes across as a barley wine. Nonetheless, this is a good beer that I recommend. I certainly preferred the 60 Minute IPA.
