Had on Christmas Eve. Poured thick, black, and actually had a decent tan head considering the ABV. Nice lacing around the glass as well. The aroma was a bit pungent, very alcoholic and roasty.
The taste is much smoother than the aroma. Sweet, dark roasted nuts, sharp, warming alcohol (but not overwhelming), notes of vanilla, oak, bitter espresso. I have to say I was very impressed they managed such a strong beer to have such a robust taste without becoming too alcoholic.
Mouthfeel is thick, full-bodied, and a little chewy. I have to admit one 12oz bottle was more than enough, and the beer is pretty expensive. But it's still worth trying at least once. One of DFH's best
